Icing on the Lake by Catherine Clark is perfect for fans of books about skating. This book is short and sweet, and the main character is relatable. There is a love triangle in the story, but I still ultimately enjoyed it.

New Year's Resolutions
by Kirsten (with help from Crystal, Jones, and Emma)1. Survive the month at my sister's house. Survive my 3-yr-old nephew and crazy sister.
2. Learn to ice skate better. Or not fall down. Or just get a cuter skating outfit.
3. Find hockey-playing, winter-loving hottie. and invite him to the weekend cabin trip (aka "groundhog getaway") with everyone.
Oh, sure. No problem.
Review: Icing on the Lake by Catherine Clark
After her sister breaks her leg, Kirsten moves in to help out. At the same time, she is looking for a date for an upcoming weekend getaway, and she is determined not to stay single at the end of her visit. I really enjoyed the skating and hockey aspects, since they provide such a nice winter aesthetic. The themes of both family and friendship are also enjoyable, and I especially enjoyed reading about Kirsten’s little nephew. Conor is also the sweetest. I will say, the book does have a major love triangle, but I still found the story interesting.
❀ Likeable Main Character
Kirsten is a pretty likeable main character. She is supportive of her sister, and I liked how she is so willing to help out. As well, she is relatable, and she has just the right amount of awkwardness. The one thing I will say is that I didn’t love the back and forth between the two brothers, but overall, I still found Kirsten entertaining.
❀ Fun and Wintry
Icing on the Lake by Catherine Clark is a fun and wintry book. I loved the theme of family and the realistic main character. However, if you are not a fan of love triangles, I would give this one a pass.

This sounds cute and fluffy, which is perfect for a winter read. 🙂 I also love books that have strong sibling relationships. Great review!
Same! This one was such a fun read. 🙂
You’re reading a lot of fun wintry reads lately. This one again sounds cute and fluffy. That’s exactly what I like in a holiday story. I need to read more of them. I have a couple to get to. Hopefully I can read them before January so I’m still in the mood.
These types of books are definitely mood related reads! Perfect for the holidays. I hope that you have time to read a few as well. 🙂
Sounds like a good easy read for reluctant readers. Glad you approve!

It really is! I hope that you enjoy it if you do give it a try. 🙂
I’m not normally into love triangles, but even with the triangle, this sounds like such a fun read.

Same! I know that there are some readers that stay away from all love triangles and I understand that. Sometimes I am okay with them as well. 🙂
Sounds like a cute winter romance. Broken legs, crazy kids and skating. Awesome.
