Review: The New Fondue Cookbook

Fondue is something that I grew up with as a fun way to socialize with friends and family. At present, it isn’t possible to heat up your fondue pot for a crowd. However, it does make for a different and entertaining way to spice up a meal at home.

❀ Straightforward and Simple

This book of recipes is very straightforward and has a really simple layout. There are images that accompany each of the recipes and while it isn’t the most stunning cookbook out there, it is a perfect book for anyone who just wants a large collection of recipes for creating fondue.

❀ The Contents of The New Fondue Cookbook are as follows:

  • Introduction
  • Fon-Do’s and Fon-Don’ts: Health and Safety
  • Savoury Fondues
  • Sweet Fondues

❀ Every fondue recipe imaginable

I have bookmarked many recipes, including the Appenzeller Cider Fondue and the Peanut Butter Fondue. There really is every type of fondue imaginable in this book! I have made the classic Emmentaler Cheese Fondue and found it to be reminiscent of a true Swiss fondue.

Well, I wasn’t craving fondue until this post… I don’t know that I would want to make it at home, though. Seems like a lot of work. Maybe this cookbook would help, though. Plus, I have been looking for a way to spice meals up lately. I’m so bored of everything we’ve been eating.

    • Lori says:

Try it at home, for sure! It depends on the type of ingredients you choose. Expensive cheese can definitely drive up the price at a restaurant.

  2. Sarah L says:

When I was married in 1969 we got a fondue pot as a gift. We used it many times in the first year and then it went to the back of the cupboard and was never seen again.

  3. James Robert says:

Gosh, haven’t thought of this but we had one when I grew up also. I need to invest and get me one now.

  4. Kate Sarsfield says:

My parents used to have fondue parties way back in the day. I’m not sure I’d be bothered making it for just me!

  5. Rosie says:

I love this! We bring back fashions with a twist, time to entertain with fondue! And these recipes sound lip-smakin’ good! Older folks will enjoy the nostalgia, and younger will feel totally cool!

  6. Lori Smanski says:

thank you f or your review. I also grew up with a fondue pot. now to go out and do it is a bit more expensive than I would like. we had one when our children where home. it was used a lot with family and when friends came over. maybe we will start it up again with just my husband and I.
