Review: The Everything Healthy Mediterranean Cookbook

The layout of the book is very organized and the recipes included are quite simple in nature. It is a perfect cookbook for a novice home chef to add to their collection. There are 300 recipes to choose from covering a variety of topics:

  • The Mediterranean Kitchen
  • Breakfast
  • Appetizers and Dips
  • Soups and Stews
  • Salads and Dressings
  • Pasta and Rice
  • Vegetable Main Dishes
  • Beef, Pork, and Lamb
  • Poultry
  • Fish and Seafood
  • Sweets, Desserts, and Beverages

❀ Easy to source ingredients

What is most exciting about this recipe book is the fact that a lot of the ingredients are easy to source. Using common pantry items makes tackling some of the recipes less daunting. Also, the section at the beginning of the book gives tips on what basic items to have in your pantry for a successful Mediterranean diet.

Greek Village Salad

Greek Village Salad

The Greek Village Salad is a simple salad with very few ingredients, however it is really flavourful. Minaki seems to understand how to make the most out of simple ingredients to save time and bring out the flavour of the dish.

❀ A Nice starter cookbook

While The Everything Mediterranean Cookbook by Peter Minaki  is a huge collection of many different Mediterranean dishes, the simple recipes may not be enough for those looking for a more involved dish. That being said, it is a nice starter for a collection. This is definitely one cookbook to check out if you are looking at trying this style of cooking

I do eat a lot of Med-style food, once I replace the olive oil. Can’t abide oils of any sort!
