Catwoman: Soulstealer by Sarah J. Maas is filled with action and suspense, and the main character is surprisingly easy to root for, despite her being a villain. The dual narration also provides some drama. I really enjoyed this story, and I am excited for the series to continue. I have been following along with the DC Icons series since the first book was released, and I was so excited to see that Catwoman: Soulstealer written by Sarah J. Mass also follows a villain.

When the Bat's away, the Cat will play. It's time to see how many lives this cat really has. . . .
Two years after escaping Gotham City's slums, Selina Kyle returns as the mysterious and wealthy Holly Vanderhees. She quickly discovers that with Batman off on a vital mission, Batwing is left to hold back the tide of notorious criminals. Gotham City is ripe for the taking.
Meanwhile, Luke Fox wants to prove he has what it takes to help people in his role as Batwing. He targets a new thief on the prowl who seems cleverer than most. She has teamed up with Poison Ivy and Harley Quinn, and together they are wreaking havoc. This Catwoman may be Batwing's undoing.

Review: Catwoman: Soulstealer by Sarah J. Maas
This book is a little different from the other books in the series since it stars a villain. This instalment features Catwoman, along with her team of Poison Ivy and Harley Quinn, as they sabotage Gotham City. As I was anticipating, the story is action-packed, and it contains some snappy dialogue. I am not too familiar with Catwoman’s story, so I can’t say if the book does her character justice, but I can definitely say that it was an incredible read.
❀ Catwoman is a great Villain
I always love a good villain, and I was excited to see that this book would feature a villain as the main character. Selina isn’t supposed to be likeable, but I actually found myself rooting for her once I understood her motivations. At times, it didn’t feel like she was the villain, and that it not easy to accomplish. Selina is snarky, passionate, and just the kind of villain I had hoped Sarah J. Maas would write.
❀ Two Different Narrations
What is interesting about the story is the fact that there are two different narrations: the villain and the hero. Batwing’s side of the story is also told, and it is so entertaining to see him interacting with Catwoman without actually knowing it’s her. A dual narration can be pretty hit or miss for me, but I was glad to see the two separate stories before they intertwined.
❀ A Badass Villain
Catwoman: Soulstealer by Sarah J. Maas is a fast-paced fantasy read featuring a badass villain and her squad. I loved the main character’s personality and the multiple narrations. If you are like me and enjoy the bad guys, I would definitely recommend this one.
A villain squad book is just what I need! Great review!
Right?! I love a good villain! 🙂
Great review! I was just about to start this and 3 arcs landed, hopefully start next week!
I hope that you enjoy it as well! 🙂
Thank you 😁
I’m really glad you liked this book so much because I really want to read it myself. I’m curious to see how SJM tackles something different than her usual books.
It is so amazing to read a different type of story from her! 😉
This looks great! I love Catwoman and always found Selina Kyle likeable, at least in the graphic novels I read. And Harley and Poison Ivy are in it too? That sounds awesome!!!

I would love to hear your thoughts on it because you seem to have a better grasp on the original story! 🙂
I love the author, but haven’t read any of this stuff. Maybe I should start!
You should! 🙂
I still haven’t read any of these, but I want to check this one out because I love that it’s a villain’s point of view – and Harley Quinn is awesome, so having her as a character rocks!

These are such fun books to read and I have really surprised myself because I am not one that typically enjoys superhero stories.
I wouldn’t say I am totally familiar with Catwoman but I like how this story sounds and I like that its a villain. You make me excited to try this series. I will have to start it. Great review!
