Review: Antoni: Let’s Do Dinner by Antoni Porowski

If you are familiar with Antoni’s first cookbook, Antoni in the Kitchen, this is quite similar to that one. It has an eclectic and diverse collection of recipes with lots of gorgeous images of food (and Antoni,) and little personal stories that accompany the recipes. Also, the recipes have varying degrees of difficulty with some of them definitely requiring a little bit more skill than others, so might not be suitable as a weeknight dish. There is a collection at the beginning of the book that Antoni calls “fast favourites,” however, so if quick meals are of interest to you, there are a few in the book.

❀ Interesting Recipes

For those that are willing to spend a little bit more money and time on a meal, these are very interesting recipes. They are ones that are well known, but there is a signature Antoni ingredient in all of them that really adds excitement to the recipe. The instructions are straightforward and the layout of the book is easy to use. The beginning of the book has a list of essential ingredients that is useful and will make creating the recipes a lot easier.

❀ Contents: Antoni: Let’s Do Dinner

  • Salad, But Make it Dinner
  • Veggie Nights
  • Break an Egg
  • Sandwiches & Their Cousins
  • Carb Comas
  • Swim Team
  • Winner, Winner Chicken (& Turkey) Dinners
  • We Meat Again
  • Cold & Rainy Nights
  • Snacks & Sides

I have bookmarked quite a few of the recipes and really love the salad and eggs for dinner recipes the most. The Spinach Salad with Crispy Chicken, Mushrooms, & Fried Eggs looks amazing, as does the Masala Spinach Omelette. This is a perfect cookbook for a collector and anyone who is a fan of Antoni.

A recipe that has one expensive/specialty ingredient usually makes me a little nervous, but I like that this includes some “fast favorites”!

I certainly agree that he seems easy on the eye LOL I am always looking for easy to do recipe for the weeknights so it seems that not all would apply here.

I’m actually planning on stocking up on cookbooks now that I’m living in my own apartment, so this is review comes at a great time. I already own everything by Stanley Tucci, who’s an actor I adore, but maybe I should add some Antoni too!
