Wishlist Wednesday: Instant Karma

Welcome to this week’s edition of Wishlist Wednesday! Today I am featuring Instant Karma by Marissa Meyer. I love anything Marissa Meyer writes and this new YA contemporary has me intrigued.

Can’t-Wait Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Wishful Endings to spotlight and discuss the books we’re excited about and have yet to read. It is a spin-off of the original meme, Waiting on Wednesday, that was formerly hosted by Breaking the Spine.

THIS WEEK’S WOW: Instant Karma

Instant KarmaTitle: Instant Karma
Author: Marissa Meyer
Publisher: Feiwel & Friends
Publication Date: November 3, 2020

Summary (from Goodreads):

In this young adult contemporary romance, a girl is suddenly gifted with the ability to cast instant karma on those around her—both good and bad.

Chronic overachiever Prudence Daniels is always quick to cast judgment on the lazy, rude, and arrogant residents of her coastal town. Her dreams of karmic justice are fulfilled when, after a night out with her friends, she wakes up with the sudden ability to cast instant karma on those around her. Pru giddily makes use of the power, punishing everyone from public vandals to karaoke hecklers, but there is one person on whom her powers consistently backfire: Quint Erickson, her slacker of a lab partner and all-around mortal enemy. Soon, Pru begins to uncover truths about Quint, her peers, and even herself that reveal how thin the line is between virtue and vanity, generosity and greed . . . love and hate.

Thoughts

This book actually sounds like more of a magical realism story to me. I love the concept and the idea of casting  karma intrigues me. I look forward to seeing how it all plays out. The cover is also super cute.

OMG, yes! I actually have not read anything by Meyers, though I met her several times (my daughter is a fan). This book appeals to me on so many levels. I guess i added it to the TBR, when I first heard about it (August?), but with that cover, I really feel good about it. I love an old opposites attract story too, and I think I will be able to connect to these two.
