The two things that I love most are books and Taylor Swift, so naturally I am bound to compare the two at some point! I am super excited to be attending the reputation Stadium Tour this August in Toronto. The setlist for the concert has been all that I have listened to since the tour started in May. This Taylor Swift reputation book tag is a little reading list to get you in the spirit of the rep tour!
Taylor Swift reputation Book Tag
…Ready For it?
A book that is exciting and pumps you up.
Warcross by Marie Lu is a perfect choice for this song. Both the book and Ready for It? are very intense and get you pumped up. There is so much action and it so clever.
I Did Something Bad
A book that has a character who is accused of wrong doing.
Last Star Burning by Caitlin Sangster is about a girl who is wrongly accused of a bombing and flees to escape execution. She is already branded as a traitor because of her mother’s past actions, which makes it even more difficult for her to survive. It reminds me of I Did Something Bad since the theme of the song is about leaving bad situations.
Gorgeous
A book about love at first sight.
Meet Cute is an anthology that is all about first encounters. I love these kinds of stories that explore love at first sight. Gorgeous is one of those songs that really speaks to that feeling of falling in love with a stranger.
Style/Love Story/You Belong With Me
A book that tells of a love story.
Me Before You is one of those books that hits you with so many feels. It is such an epic love story that honestly took me by surprise. I love Louisa’s character and her spunky, determined personality just fits so much with these songs.
Look What You Made Me Do
A book where a character does something for revenge.
13 Minutes by Sarah Pinborough is fitting for Look What You Made Me Do, first of all because of the number 13 (Taylor’s birthday is December 13th), and because one of the characters comes back to life. This thriller is definitely very dark and will give you the same sort of vibe as the music video for Taylor’s song.
End Game
A book that has a character with a big reputation.
Like it Never Happened is written by a Canadian author, Emily Adrain. This one is all about a girl who has a bad reputation because of rumours that have been spread about her. I really enjoyed the main character, Rebecca, and I feel that her strength is a very positive aspect to her growth as a character. This one is a perfect fit for End Game.
King of My Heart
A book where two characters fall in love.
Let’s Talk About Love is one of my favourite reads of 2018. Alice, the main character, is asexual and has decided that she is through with the dating scene. Then she falls for Takumi. I love how this book explores topics that aren’t seen much in YA, and that there is a strong family theme in it. Alice is independent and really grows throughout the novel, much like King of My Heart.
Delicate
A book that has a character who is being cautious about falling in love.
Every Day is a novel that I recently re-read because the film adaptation was released earlier this year. While I didn’t care too much for the movie, I absolutely love David Levithan’s Every Day series. It digs deep into the theme of love and the obstacles one will leap through to get to it.
Shake It Off
A book that has a character who is overcoming an obstacle in life.
How to Keep Rolling After A Fall by Karole Cozzo is one of my all-time favourite contemporaries. The main character goes through so much, yet continues to persevere. After she meets Pax, a boy in a wheelchair, Nikki discovers the importance of moving on and not letting others get her down. She really does learn how to shake it off!
Dancing With Our Hands Tied
A book about forbidden love.
The Lone City series by Amy Ewing is a dystopian that contains a forbidden romance. There is quite a bit of action in this one and it very suspenseful. The main character Violet falls in love and has to keep it a secret. The fact that Violet works so hard to defend herself and those around her makes her a very interesting protagonist.
Blank Space
A book that has a character who is melodramatic.
99 Days is a romance novel by Katie Cotugno. This book contains a lot of drama. The main character, Molly, makes so many bad decisions. The amount of melodrama in the book reminds me of Blank Space. You can see the same types of scenes unfolding in this novel, for sure.
Dress
A book that has a steamy scene in it.
The Fault in Our Stars by John Green is one YA novel that I felt fit with Dress. I can’t believe that I haven’t reviewed this one yet. I had to include a John Green novel because Taylor and John have had the cutest interactions over social media. There is a scene in the story between Hazel and Augustus that is perfect for Dress.
Bad Blood/Should’ve No
A book about a break-up.
Airports, Exes, and Other Things I’m Over by Shani Petroff is all about a girl who is getting over a cheating boyfriend. It also has some strong female friendships, which I really enjoy. The novel is set in an airport, which is such a fun setting for this type of book.
Don’t Blame Me
A book where the characters do whatever it takes to be together.
The Edge of Everything by Jeff Giles is a book that is really quite dark and different from other books that I have read. It is a fantasy novel where the main character will do whatever it takes for love. The characters are desperate to be together, which gives it a Romeo and Juliet vibe as well.
Long Live/ New Year’s Day
A book that features something nostalgic.
Top Ten by Katie Cotugno is a super nostalgic story. This one is written in a non-sequential style and is a countdown of a friendship. The countdown is listed in a top ten format, which is a really unique way to tell a story.
Getaway Car
A book that features a heist.
Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo is the ultimate heist story. The plans that these characters make are so amazing and entertaining. It is a book that really keeps you right on the edge of your seat.
Call It What You Want
A book where a character does something unexpected according to others.
The Unexpected Everything by Morgan Mason is the ultimate book for a Taylor Swift fan. There are lots of songs included in the novel that are from Taylor’s albums, which is something that I absolutely loved. Also, Andie’s whole summer gets turned upside down, and is very unexpected of her character.
We Are Never Getting Back Together/ This Is Why We Can’t Have Nice Things
A book that features characters who are feuding.
Revenge, Ice Cream, and Other Things Best Served Cold by Katie Finn is the best revenge story. The two characters absolutely loathe one another and are always finding ways to get back at one another. The beach setting makes it perfect for summer and the story is super funny as well.
What books would you add to a Taylor Swift reputation book tag?
Love this tag! <3 I really like how you fit TFiOS with Dress… so many parallels!
It really does! This is one that I had a hard time finding a book for, but I think TFIOS fits perfectly. 🙂
I love Taylor and this tag, SO GOOD!
I hope you have an incredible time at the show, I’m sure you will 💕
Thank you! I am so excited about it! 🙂
This tag was so much fun to read; I may have to do it on my blog too! I loved Meet Cute.

I would love to know your responses if you do give it a try. 🙂
I agree that Six of Crows is the ultimate heist story. I’m missing the characters like crazy now. I guess I should read Crooked Kingdom soon. 😛
You should read it!! Dude. You will love it! 🙂
WOW, what an amazing list you have here. I didn’t even know Six of Crows was a heist story. LOL, oh my – I am out of it. But, I simply loved this list. Most recent book I read is one coming out in August – Beneath the Lighthouse and it is totally – We Are Never Getting Back Together – song fit! I loved this list and usually never listen to tunes while reading as I am so focused on reading, I don’t think to play anything.

Ooooh! I haven’t heard of that one before. I will have to add it to my TBR. 🙂
Love this tag! I’m so curious about Meet Cute and Let’s Talk About Love, I think I’ll add them on my TBR!
I hope that you enjoy both of them! 🙂
WOW what a fantastic tag!!!!
Thanks, Sophie! 🙂
I love this tag! I totally agree with you on Six Of Crows and Last Star Burning! I haven’t read Warcross yet but it’s on my TBR.

I can’t wait to hear your thoughts on Warcross! 🙂
I did enjoy reading about the books, but I have to tell you… I don’t know any of TS music. I know, I know. Don’t hate me! But I enjoyed this, very much!
I could never hate you, Jaime! You are the sweetest. 🙂
YES! I’m just loving you paired up Taylor Swift songs with books. To great interests of mine … combined! Plus, I’m definitely going to have to check out some of these books you mentioned.

OMG This tag is so cute!!! ♥ Warcross definitely got me pumped up–I’m in dire need of Wildcard! And I can totally see 99 Days in Blank Space! The heroine in that book was a dramatic trainwreck for me.

Right?! I had a hard time coming up with the Blank Space book, but when it hit me, I knew it would be perfect. That book really is a train wreck. Perfect description, Aimee! 🙂
Love this post – we love Taylor Swift’s songs too <3 Oooh, have fun at her concert in August, that's super exciting. We really need to get around to reading Six of Crows, and Getaway Car is an amazing song, so we'll be definitely checking out the reads you've listed here. Nice post! 🙂

Fantastic post, I love Taylor Swift and books so much! I might have to take inspiration from this post on my own blog… I’ll provide a link to your post if I do 🙂 Great post, loved it!
I’ve only read Me Before You and The Fault in Our Stars, out of all the books here, but those are two really fantastic books (they just also happen to be really emotional ones LOL).
