Call Ava romantic, but she thinks love should be found in the real world, not on apps that filter men by height, job, or astrological sign. She believes in feelings, not algorithms. So after a recent breakup and dating app debacle, she decides to put love on hold and escapes to a remote writers' retreat in coastal Italy. She's determined to finish writing the novel she's been fantasizing about, even though it means leaving her close-knit group of friends and her precious dog, Harold, behind.
At the retreat, she's not allowed to use her real name or reveal any personal information. When the neighboring martial arts retreat is canceled and a few of its attendees join their small writing community, Ava, now going by "Aria," meets "Dutch," a man who seems too good to be true. The two embark on a baggage-free, whirlwind love affair, cliff-jumping into gem-colored Mediterranean waters and exploring the splendor of the Italian coast. Things seem to be perfect for Aria and Dutch.
But then their real identities--Ava and Matt--must return to London. As their fantasy starts to fade, they discover just how different their personal worlds are. From food choices to annoying habits to sauna etiquette . . . are they compatible in anything? And then there's the prickly situation with Matt's ex-girlfriend, who isn't too eager to let him go. As one mishap follows another, it seems while they love each other, they just can't love each other's lives. Can they reconcile their differences to find one life together?

Review: Love Your Life by Sophie Kinsella
As with any novel by Sophie Kinsella, the main character is interesting and quirky. Ava is a free spirit who is always excited to tackle new things. She also has a rescue dog who has some behaviour issues that provide lots of laugh-out-loud moments to the story. Additionally, Ava has some interesting friends that add a fantastic flavour to the novel.
❀ Romantic and Unique Setting
One thing that makes the story unique is the monastery setting, as it is a great romantic backdrop for the romance that brews between Ava and Matt. The workshop has a rule that personal backgrounds are left behind, so when sparks fly, they attempt to leave the baggage from their pasts out of the equation. It works well while they are at the monastery, but once they are back to their real lives, they have to learn about one another all over again.
❀ Strong Friendship Theme
The friendship theme is really strong in this novel and it is really enjoyable reading about the close connection that Ava has with her friends. Also, the underlying theme of finding the perfect match makes you think about how far one should go to find the right person. There are many differing viewpoints in the book and I loved seeing how Ava and her friends were able to navigate their love lives.
❀ A romantic escape read
Love Your Life by Sophie Kinsella is not my favourite Kinsella novel, but it is lots of fun to read and definitely warms your heart. The characters are signature Kinsella and the concept is unique. It is a story that I recommend to anyone looking for a romantic escape read.
I heard this one was good, but not her best. I liked her last book, but it’s the only one I’ve read of hers. I need to try more of them. I’m not sure if will be this one, but maybe! Nice review!
I really love her style and the humour in her writing. Olivia really loved her YA novel and that was what originally drew me in to her adult books. 😉
Nice review! I have this on my TBR list and I’m so glad you enjoyed it! 🙂

Haha! One of my favourite characters in the book, for sure!
I’m always happy to read a new Sophie Kinsella book!
Same! I still have to read her Shopaholic series!
I thought this was classic Kinsella. Quirky and a bit silly with lots of heart and warmth. Their friends owned me. I adored the group dynamic so much, and what they did there towards the end was one of my favorite parts (and the dog, he was fabulous)
The dog is so much fun in this one! So glad to hear that you enjoyed it as well!
