Katzenjammer by Francesca Zappia is a gripping horror novel that lingered with me long after I finished reading. With its eerie premise and gorgeous prose, I was initially impressed by how quickly the author drew me in. However, I had some issues with the book’s disturbing ending, making this a difficult review to write. I have mixed feelings about this one, but I would recommend it to those looking for a thought-provoking and suspenseful read. Continue reading

Love Radio by Ebony LaDelle is an entertaining romcom all about falling in love. Featuring a radio host who must learn to take his own romantic advice, two realistic main characters, and heavier themes that bring even more depth to the adorable romance, this one checks many boxes for me. Love & Other Great Expectations by Becky Dean is an entertaining journey through England in a scavenger hunt that is based on British Literature. I loved the idea of classics guiding the characters’ travels, and the main character’s unique problem-solving skills are entertaining to read about. As each challenge in the scavenger hunt makes classic literature more enjoyable and encouragers the characters to think about the stories as more than words on a page, this is a great contemporary read for both book lovers and more reluctant readers. The Edge of Summer by Erica George is a sincere story of first love and first loss, but also of marine conservation. Following a summer marine biology intern, this one contains plenty of descriptions of efforts to save the whales and a realistic main character who comes to learn from her mistakes. I was especially impressed by the way the author raises awareness about entanglements and other threats to marine life, making this a perfect summer read with many impactful moments. Continue reading
