Fans of Susan Dennard's New York Times bestselling Witchlands series have fallen in love with the Bloodwitch Aeduan. And now, finally, comes his story.
High in a snowy mountain range, a monastery that holds more than just faith clings to the side of a cliff. Below, thwarted by a lake, a bloodthirsty horde of raiders await the coming of winter and the frozen path to destroy the sanctuary and its secrets.
The Bloodwitch Aeduan has teamed up with the Threadwitch Iseult and the magical girl Owl to stop the destruction. But to do so, he must confront his own father, and his past.

Review: Bloodwitch by Susan Dennard
If there is one thing that I have come to expect from Susan Dennard’s writing, it is her ability to craft an amazing fight scene that is both gripping and intense. The battles in Bloodwitch are the most exciting in the series so far. The use of magic and the fact that women are at the forefront of these gruesome conflicts is absolutely thrilling.
❀ Well-Developed Characters
While this book has a focus on the Bloodwitch, Aeduan, it digs deeper into the lives of all the characters. Vivia continues to struggle with her ability to lead Nubrevna, and her perseverance in the face of so much opposition is one that is very relatable. The novel also follows Safiya and Iseult, as they continue their journeys to find one another. Owl’s character becomes more developed as well. I look forward to learning more about her in the last book of The Witchlands, as she is so intriguing.
❀ Amazing World-Building
The world of The Witchlands is unlike any other that I have ever read. All of the different witcheries that are present in the book are fascinating. In Bloodwitch, readers learn about many new types of magic, such as Ice Witches. In a fantasy series such as this, it can seem overwhelming to take in all of the different aspects of the world, its witcheries, and characters. Susan Dennard, however, gives her readers lots of details and reminders surrounding the events. I found that I was instantly back to where I left off in Windwitch without having to refresh my memory at all.
❀ An Incredible Series
Bloodwitch by Susan Dennard is everything that I hoped for in this third instalment. If you have yet to give The Witchlands series a try, I highly recommend it to anyone who loves the fantasy genre. The series is incredible with its fantastic battles and wonderful characters. It is a world that will lure you in from the first page.
I think it’s time for me to start this series. I think it would be awesome one to marathon.
Do you know how many books there will be in the series?
I enjoyed your review. 🙂

There are going to be 4 books as far as I know. There is also a novella that has quite a few breadcrumbs for Bloodwitch. I hope that you love it as much as I do! 🙂
I’m thrilled you loved this one. Gotta love great world building and characters. I plan to get started on the first book as soon as I wrap up another series.

I have only read the first one so far, and i absolutely loved it. I have been waiting until the final book comes out to continue, but if I am not crazy, it seems there are going to be a few more and I don’t know if I can wait that long
Now you have me curious! I am going to look on GR. 🙂
You’re right! It says there are 5 books and I already had it added to my TBR. I think I must be getting confused. lol

I am a little PO’d I missed the pre-order. I clicked on the link you put up after that awesome review and it said it ended 2/19 – today is the 20th. Like I just missed it! UGHHH frustrating. I am so glad you liked this and it’s on my TBR. I was gonna grab it. I might still after my hurt feelings are done.
