Seventeen, fashion-obsessed, and gay, Abby Ives has always been content playing the sidekick in other people's lives. While her friends and sister have plunged headfirst into the world of dating and romances, Abby's been happy to focus on her plus-size style blog and her dreams of taking the fashion industry by storm. When she lands a great internship at her favorite boutique, she's thrilled to take the first step toward her dream career. Then she falls for her fellow intern, Jordi Perez. Hard. And now she's competing against the girl she's kissing to win the coveted paid job at the end of the internship.
But really, nothing this summer is going as planned. She also unwittingly becomes friends with Jax, a lacrosseplaying bro-type who wants her help finding the best burger in Los Angeles, and she's struggling to prove to her mother--the city's celebrity health nut--that she's perfectly content with who she is.
Just as Abby starts to feel like she's no longer the sidekick in her own life, Jordi's photography surprisingly puts her in the spotlight. Instead of feeling like she's landed a starring role, Abby feels betrayed. Can Abby find a way to reconcile her positive yet private sense of self with the image others have of her?

Review: The Summer of Jordi Perez by Amy SPalding
The Summer of Jordi Perez has everything you could ever want in a book. It is summery, fluffy, and so original. I loved the summer internship idea and the main characters who support each other even if they are technically competitors. This book is adorable and such a fun read for the summer.
❀ About a Fashion Blogger
This book follows a fashion blogger and a photographer during a summer internship at a boutique. However, the owner can only pay one of them, so the two must compete for the position. After spending time with Jordi, Abby finds herself falling for her, leading to one of the best summers of her life. I loved how realistic the story is and how the characters are awkward and relatable. The quest for the best burger in Los Angeles is also a unique aspect which was so entertaining to read. This book is filled with fluffy moments that are guaranteed to make you smile but also some angst. The Summer of Jordi Perez is a feel-good read that is perfect to kick back with this summer.
❀ Quirky and Hilarious
I adored both Abby and Jordi. Abby is so positive and doesn’t let her mom’s views affect her. She is quirky and her voice is hilarious, making her the ideal narrator for a rom-com like this one. I also enjoyed reading the interactions between Jordi and Abby. Despite being competitors, they are so supportive of one another, and that is something I always like to see. In addition to the romance, there are so many different types of relationships throughout the book. I especially enjoyed Abby’s wholesome interactions with the owner of the boutique.
❀ A Fluffy rom-com
The Summer of Jordi Perez by Amy Spalding is a fluffy rom-com that is sure to bring a smile to your face. I loved the original plot and the relatable main characters. I would definitely recommend this one, as it is the perfect pick-me-up.
Book Quotes: The Summer of Jordi Perez by Amy Spalding
BOOK BEGINNING
In modern love stories, our heroines all seem to have something in common. No, not an adorably decorated apartment in the big city, a conveniently timed meet cute that arises two-thirds of the way through their personal narrative and somehow fixes itself in the last third.
FRIDAY 56
Trevor’s car pulls up, and I take a moment before I leave the house to let my face look as disappointed as I feel. Jax had asked me to hang out and eat burgers today, but I’d turned him down for one-on-one-time with Maliah.
My Burger Recommendation
There is this amazing burger place in Hamilton, Ontario called Hambrgr. This place has the absolute best burgers that I have ever had. There are so many different choices available, but if I have to choose one, it would be the “Blue’s Your Daddy” burger. It has blue cheese, onion jam, and apple. To die for! I am sure that Jordi from The Summer of Jordi Perez by Amy Spalding would approve!

I hope that you enjoy it! 🙂
Great review! 😀 I love that even though these girls are competitors that they still support each other. I like that so much better than if they would try to be in each other’s way.
