The Cousins by Karen M. McManus ia an intriguing new YA mystery releasing this fall. I have yet to read this author’s other novels, but I keep hearing such wonderful things. The summer resort and island setting are enough to capture my interest. I can’t wait to find out what this secretive dark past is all about.
The Cousins by Karen M. McManus

Author: Karen M. McManus
Publisher: Delacorte Press
Publication Date: December 1, 2020

Milly, Aubrey, and Jonah Story are cousins, but they barely know each another, and they've never even met their grandmother. Rich and reclusive, she disinherited their parents before they were born. So when they each receive a letter inviting them to work at her island resort for the summer, they're surprised . . . and curious.
Their parents are all clear on one point--not going is not an option. This could be the opportunity to get back into Grandmother's good graces. But when the cousins arrive on the island, it's immediately clear that she has different plans for them. And the longer they stay, the more they realize how mysterious--and dark--their family's past is.
The entire Story family has secrets. Whatever pulled them apart years ago isn't over--and this summer, the cousins will learn everything.

Book Quotes: The Cousins by Karen M. McManus
“Everybody has secrets,’ she says, taking a sip of her drink. ‘That’s nondebatable. The only question is whether you’re keeping your own, or someone else’s.”
It’s a little weird, maybe, to be carting all this around, but I don’t know these people. And when I don’t know something, I study it.
I still need to read the author’s other novels too. I have One of Us Is Lying but I just can’t seem to get around to reading it. 🙈

this sounds like an interesting book to read
Intriguing.. I like a good mystery in the story.
Talk about a what if, I would be very concern about what they are wanting after being disinherited after all these years. Sounds like a winner to me.
