Fresh Ink by Lamar Giles is one anthology that I am really eager to read. There are so many of my favourite authors represented in this book that I am not sure how I will wait until August to read it. Tyler Johnson Was Here by Jay Coles first caught my attention with that gorgeous cover! The story, however, seems as though it is not going to be so pretty. Does this book not sound like it is going to be incredibly gripping and hard-hitting YA political book? I am trying to add more YA books by Black authors to my reading list. The Belles by Dhonielle Clayton sounds so intriguing! Not only does the cover draw me in, the entire concept is fascinating. Stealing Snow by Danielle Paige has a unique concept and the main character is enjoyable, but there were a few things, the excessive amount of love interests, for example, that bothered me. I wanted to love this book, but unfortunately, I ended up a bit disappointed. Continue reading
Fate of Flames by Sarah Raughley is unlike anything I’ve read before. This book is about a group of girls who fight phantoms to save the world. The main character goes from fangirl to fighter, even if it takes time. However, the story was pretty slow and there were a few parts that seemed dry, affecting my overall enjoyment. Continue reading
