Reawakened by Colleen Houck is an interesting book set in Egypt that has a one of a kind concept. The Egyptian element to this story gives it a real sense of mystery. However, the protagonist and romance in the novel were lacking and really slowed the pace of the novel.

When seventeen-year-old Lilliana Young enters the Metropolitan Museum of Art one morning during spring break, the last thing she expects to find is a live Egyptian prince with godlike powers, who has been reawakened after a thousand years of mummification.
And she really can't imagine being chosen to aid him in an epic quest that will lead them across the globe to find his brothers and complete a grand ceremony that will save mankind.
But fate has taken hold of Lily, and she, along with her sun prince, Amon, must travel to the Valley of the Kings, raise his brothers, and stop an evil, shape-shifting god named Seth from taking over the world.
From New York Times bestselling author Colleen Houck comes an epic adventure about two star-crossed teens who must battle mythical forces and ancient curses on a journey with more twists and turns than the Nile itself.

Review: Reawakened by Colleen Houck
❀ Unique Setting
The setting of Colleen Houck’s Reawakened is really unique. Egypt is such an intriguing location and its history is so fascinating. I really enjoyed learning about Egyptian culture and mythology in this book. Colleen Houck painted such a beautiful picture of the pyramids and sarcophaguses that made this part of the story really come alive.
❀ Main Character is Not Enjoyable
Unfortunately, the main character in Reawakened, Lilliana, is not one that I found particularly enjoyable. Her attitude really affected my enjoyment of the book. I found her to be very stereotypical and sort of stuck up. She is very wealthy and only wears designer clothes. The constant descriptions of how great she thinks she is because she is so rich were quite frankly, annoying. I saw no connection to this character’s affluence to the development of the novel.
❀ Romance is Disappointing
The romance theme in the novel was a disappointment. In Reawakened, Lilliana is desperately in love with the Egyptian prince, Amon, and continually thinks about what a relationship with him would be like. This theme seemed quite silly to me. In all honesty, the pacing of the book would have been faster without this unnecessary element.
❀ Reawakened by Colleen Houck is a Light Read
Reawakened by Colleen Houck was not my cup of tea. I’m sure that this book may relate to others looking for a light read set in Egypt.
I loved Tiger’s Curse. I’ve been looking forward to this book!! Was it really slow on the romance? *sigh*
This book has such a beautiful cover! I love the idea of the Egypt setting but disapointed to hear that one of the main characters wasn’t likable.
I read this book too and loved Tiger’s Curse. The romance was very slow in this one. Good review. 😉
The Egyptian element to this story makes it mysterious and intriguing! Neat cover!
