Summary (from Goodreads):

Lacey found her dream job: playing a princess character at a popular fairytale theme park in sunny southern Florida. Her diamond tiara might not be real, but the smiles of the children she meets every day certainly are. It’s just too bad that her ex-boyfriend was never impressed with her career choice.

Henry, the crown prince of Bella-Moritz, is trying to fulfill his young daughter’s birthday wish: to be a normal girl with a normal life. That’s why they’re pretending to be ordinary tourists at an American amusement park. Henry lost his wife four years ago, and he’s been going through the motions ever since. But could a meeting with a make-believe princess lead to real love?

Review: Once Upon a Royal Summer by Teri Wilson

Working as a princess at a theme park, Lacey has seen it all. However, when a single dad and his daughter attend her tea party, she never expects him to be an undercover prince. When his young daughter falls in love with Lacey, she becomes their personal guide, and grows closer with the prince at the same time. What follows is a classic Hallmark story with entertaining twists, heartwarming scenes, and a sweet romance.

❀ A theme park princess

Lacey is such a kind character, and I loved following her as she works her dream job. She is committed to joy, and she has such wholesome interactions with the kids at the park. I also liked how she stands up for herself, refusing to let people call her career choice immature. What I especially enjoyed is the way the author delves into Lacey’s backstory, explaining why working as a theme park princess is so important to her.

❀ Setting is a fun complement to the story

One of my favourite aspects of the book is its setting. Amusement parks bring so much fun to a story, and Once Upon a Time makes the story immersive. In this case, the setting complements the prince’s storyline well, providing an escape from royal duties and creating an interesting tension between two types of royalty.

❀ An Uplifting Modern Fairy Tale

Once Upon a Royal Summer by Teri Wilson is an uplifting modern fairy tale. I enjoyed the concept of a theme park princess and a real prince, and the main character stays true to herself. The theme park setting further enhances the story, creating tension and immersing the reader. This is a sweet summer read perfect for those looking for a heartwarming romance.

I didn’t know what this book was about until now. It was only radar because Wilson wrote it, and her books are always cute, fun, and fluffy. This sounds great!
