Love, Life, and the List by Kasie West is a story about art and self-improvement. While the premise has promise, I was disappointed by the lack of descriptions of the main character’s art as well as the forced romance. On top of this, the main character’s sarcasm is taken too far and becomes both tired and almost disrespectful. A Dress for the Wicked by Autumn Krause is a book that I had been highly anticipating for its blend of fashion and competition. The premise is intriguing, however this one let me down. The main character is mature, and the subject of teen motherhood is handled in a way that is sensible, while it is not really in the spotlight of the story. Together at Midnight by Jennifer Castle is so touching as it tells the story of two people doing random acts of kindness at New Year’s. I enjoyed the main characters and their complexity, and the short chapters from the people they help add depth to the story.
