Sometimes danger is hard to see... until it’s too late.
Britt Pfeiffer has trained to backpack the Teton Range, but she isn't prepared when her ex-boyfriend, who still haunts her every thought, wants to join her. Before Britt can explore her feelings for Calvin, an unexpected blizzard forces her to seek shelter in a remote cabin, accepting the hospitality of its two very handsome occupants—but these men are fugitives, and they take her hostage.
In exchange for her life, Britt agrees to guide the men off the mountain. As they set off, Britt knows she must stay alive long enough for Calvin to find her. The task is made even more complicated when Britt finds chilling evidence of a series of murders that have taken place there... and in uncovering this, she may become the killer’s next target.
But nothing is as it seems in the mountains, and everyone is keeping secrets, including Mason, one of her kidnappers. His kindness is confusing Britt. Is he an enemy? Or an ally?

Book Review: Black Ice by Becca Fitzpatrick
Black Ice by Becca Fitzpatrick is a disturbing thriller about two girls kidnapped in the mountains. The setting was so cozy at first, but then it became the perfectly terrifying location for a survival story like this one. The main character is also likeable and super resourceful. I would recommend this book, but be warned, it is almost impossible to put it down.
❀ A Psychological Thriller
It is hard to explain this book without giving away too much, but basically, Black Ice tells the story of two girls who are on a hiking trip in the mountains and get held hostage. I enjoyed all the suspense that comes with Britt awaiting help and the eeriness as she makes some terrifying discoveries. There are also so many plot twists in the book which I loved. They really make the reader question everything. If you enjoy the psychological thriller genre, this is the perfect book for you.
❀ Mountain Setting
I adored the mountain setting in this book. At the beginning, before the book took a darker turn, I found the cabin to be so cozy and the perfect place to stay on a holiday. After Britt and Korbie are kidnapped, the mountain made the story even more frightening. The fact that there is no one else around to help the girls and that the weather conditions are extremely dangerous added so much suspense to the book and made me not want to tear my eyes from the page.
❀ Clever Main Character
Britt is a very clever and resourceful character. She is able to reason with her captors and give them a false sense of trust as she secretly searches for help. I admired her ability to stay calm in the extreme situation that she is in, but I found her to be kind of a bad friend to Kobie. She drags her out to the woods and then gets doesn’t make much of an effort to go back for her when they are separated. However, I still found Britt to be interesting overall.
Black Ice by Becca Fitzpatrick is a frightening thriller about two girls kidnapped in the mountains. The setting adds to the dramatic effect and the main character is intelligent and level-headed. I’m a little late to read this book, but I’m glad that I got the chance to pick it up!

I have had this book since the day it came out, but I haven’t read it yet. I really like the author, and thrillers, so I am not sure why. I need to read this one, it seems!
Same! I have been going through some of my owned books and actually reading them. lol 🙂
Like another commenter on here, I hadn’t heard of this one until your review! Nice!! It actually really sounds like something I’d love!
I’m glad to bring life to some older titles! 🙂
The only book that I’ve read by this author is Dangerous Lies, and I thought that was well written. I’ve had this book on my radar for a while now but haven’t had a chance to get a copy yet – I think I’ll have to add it to my list of books to buy next time I go on a book buying binge. I’m really glad to hear you liked this one!
