Superman: Dawnbreaker by Matt de la Peña is a book that I am highly anticipating. I have enjoyed all of the titles in the DC Icons series so far, and I am really pumped for this next instalment. I am not very familiar with de la Peña’s work, but I did enjoy his short story in My True Love Gave to Me. For a girl who is quite unfamiliar with the whole world of superheroes, this series has really opened up a whole world for me. I can’t wait to find out how the story of Superman is portrayed in this one.
Superman: Dawnbreaker by Matt de la Peña

Author: Matt de la Pena
Publisher: Random House Books for Young Readers
Publication Date: March 5, 2019

When the dawn breaks, a hero rises.
His power is beyond imagining.
Clark Kent has always been faster, stronger--better--than everyone around him. But he wasn't raised to show off, and drawing attention to himself could be dangerous. Plus, it's not like he's earned his powers . . . yet.
But power comes with a price.
Lately it's difficult to hold back and keep his heroics in the shadows. When Clark follows the sound of a girl crying, he comes across Gloria Alvarez and discovers a dark secret lurking in Smallville. Turns out, Clark's not the only one hiding something. Teaming up with his best friend, Lana Lang, he throws himself into the pursuit of the truth. What evil lies below the surface of his small town? And what will it cost Clark to learn about his past as he steps into the light to become the future Man of Steel? Because before he can save the world, he must save Smallville.

Book Quotes: Superman: Dawnbreaker
We can’t be spectators our whole lives, right? At some point we have to take a risk. Step into the action.
So, he was breathing ice now? Great. He couldn’t even have dinner with friends without some random new power messing everything up.
I really need to read these books…the Cat Woman one in particular interests me. This one sounds good too.

Same! I can’t wait for Clark!!! 🙂
I can’t believe that I haven’t read any of these, but this one interests me for sure!
I haven’t read any of these books yet. They sure look like a lot of fun to read. I will have to check them out one of these days.
I hope that you enjoy the series if you do give it a try! 🙂
I’ve actually read My True Love Gave to Me: Twelve Holiday Stories too back in 2014 (so long ago already… wow!) so at least know Matt de la Peña too. I’m kinda behind on these DC Icons books because I’ve only read Wonder Woman but I should be reading the Catwoman book soon!
I can’t wait to hear your thoughts on it! 🙂
You can’t go wrong with a Superman book. This looks good.
