Welcome to this week’s edition of Friday Reads! Today I am sharing a few quotes from The Rosie Project by Graeme Simsion. I have been wanting to read this book for years and now that the movie is coming out soon, I am finally giving it a try.
Book Beginnings is a book meme hosted by Rose City Reader where participants share quotes (the first sentence, or so) of the book, along with initial thoughts about the sentence, impressions of the book, or anything else the opener inspires.
The Friday 56 is hosted by Freda’s Voice, and the rules are quite simple: Grab a book, any book, and turn to page 56 or 56% in your e-reader. Find any non-spoilery sentence(s) and post.
THIS WEEK’S BOOK: The Rosie Project by Graeme Simsion

Author: Graeme Simsion
Publisher: HarperCollins
Publication Date: June 1, 2013

A first-date dud, socially awkward, and overly fond of quick-dry clothes, genetics professor Don Tillman has given up on love, until a chance encounter gives him an idea.
He will design a questionnaire - a 16-page, scientifically researched questionnaire - to uncover the perfect partner. She will most definitely not be a barmaid, a smoker, a drinker or a late-arriver. Rosie is all these things. She is also fiery and intelligent, strangely beguiling, and looking for her biological father - a search that a DNA expert might just be able to help her with.
The Rosie Project is a romantic comedy like no other. It is arrestingly endearing and entirely unconventional, and it will make you want to drink cocktails.

BOOK BEGINNING
FRIDAY 56
I am aware that there are many arguments in favor of vegetarianism. However, as I eat meat, I considered it would be more convenient if my partner did also. At this early stage, it seemed logical to specify the ideal solution and review the questionnaire later if necessary.
THOUGHTS
I really enjoy a quirky main character and Don Tillman seems to fit the bill quite easily. He is so socially awkward, and I have found myself laughing out loud quite a few times so far while listening to The Rosie Project. The narration of the audiobook is fantastic, which is really adding to my enjoyment.
Let’s be honest, so socially awkward characters are the best! Maybe I think this because I can relate lol
I completely agree with you! We all have little quirks. 😉
This is a book I’ve had on my GR list for some time now. I really should get a copy soon. Happy weekend!

I am glad to know that I am not the only one!
I enjoyed this book, although the second book didn’t really grab me. Thanks for sharing. Here’s mine: “I KNOW WHO YOU ARE”
I find that is often the case with sequels. Thanks for stopping by!
I have this one on my Kindle but haven’t had a chance to read it yet. It does sound like fun. This week I am spotlighting Echo North by Joanna Ruth Meyer. Happy reading!
It seems to be so far! Excited to keep reading and learn more.
I love the cover design! Great color and cute bike.

I agree with you! It is my favourite cover for this one.
I love socially awkward characters so much! This sounds like a really entertaining read. I had no idea the movie was coming out so I’ll have to read it soon.

I hope that the movie sticks to the book! Sometimes there can be so much variation in an adaptation.
I agree with Laurel above, I really liked this book, but the second book, I don’t know, the characters just felt so different!
Maybe I will just stick with the first book then!
I already have this on my wish list. It sounds like a good summer read:)

Thanks for stopping by!
Social Awkward characters I find you can relate to them more because everyone is a little bit awkward.
Exactly!! 🙂
This sounds cute, and I can only imagine the questions on the questionnaire. I think I will check this one out, book style!
The questions add so much fun to the novel. I hope that you enjoy it! 🙂
Neat share, this sounds great. I haven’t tuned into an audio book before.
I’m reading the third book in the series at the moment, I love them. Yes bet listening really brings out the humour.
