Legendary by Stephanie Garber is the exciting sequel to Caraval that we have all been waiting for. I just started reading this book last night, so I don’t have much to say yet. I am enjoying it so far, and although I did read Caraval quite some time ago, it is all coming back to me. Garber is a fantastic world-building author.

A heart to protect. A debt to repay. A game to win.
After being swept up in the magical world of Caraval, Donatella Dragna has finally escaped her father and saved her sister, Scarlett, from a disastrous arranged marriage. The girls should be celebrating, but Tella isn’t yet free. She made a desperate bargain with a mysterious criminal, and what Tella owes him no one has ever been able to deliver: Caraval Master Legend’s true name.
The only chance of uncovering Legend’s identity is to win Caraval, so Tella throws herself into the legendary competition once more—and into the path of the murderous heir to the throne, a doomed love story, and a web of secrets…including her sister's. Caraval has always demanded bravery, cunning, and sacrifice, but now the game is asking for more. If Tella can’t fulfill her bargain and deliver Legend’s name, she’ll lose everything she cares about—maybe even her life. But if she wins, Legend and Caraval will be destroyed forever...
Welcome, welcome to Caraval . . . the games have only just begun.

Book Quotes: Legendary by Stephanie Garber
BOOK BEGINNING
While some rooms on the estate had monsters hiding beneath the beds, Tella swore her mother’s suite concealed enchantment.
FRIDAY 56
Nigel had warned her that if she won the game it would come at a cost that she’d later regret.
Hopefully you’ll enjoy this as much as you did Caraval! I actually never read Caraval. I wasn’t too interested in the plot, and then there was so much hype that I took a step back from picking up the book. I do like Stephanie Garber’s writing style from those quotes you shared, so I’ll just wait until she publishes something else. 🙂
Thanks for sharing!

It is always good to step back from a book that you are feeling is hyped. I do enjoy this series and I hope that you will too if you do choose to read it. 🙂
Hope you enjoy it. There is so much hype about it. I didn’t love Caraval but I will still read the sequel,

I hope that you enjoy book 2 more than you did the first. 🙂
This sounds good. I haven’t read Caraval yet but it is on my wishlist. This week I am featuring Death and a Pot of Chowder by Cornelia Kidd. Happy reading!
I think that Garber is an incredible world-builder too. Caraval’s world is so lush and magical. I’m not sure when I’ll get to Legendary. I got it the day it came out, but I’m hesitant to read it, because I really disliked Tella in Caraval.
Yeah. It is hard to pick up a book when it focuses on a character you aren’t fond of. I hope that you enjoy it when you do read it. 🙂
I want to listen to the audiobook of this one!
Oooh! I am intrigued about that! I have a few credits to use up so maybe I should give it a try as well. I hope that you love it. 🙂
Thanks! I hope so, too! I listened to the first book and that was a fun way to experience it.
While I wasn’t crazy about Caraval, I am interested in Tella’s story, so I’m hoping to get to this over the summer!

I hope that you enjoy the second book more than you did the first. 🙂
I haven’t read my sister’s copy of Caraval yet but have good hopes for it. FINALLY an author who doesn’t describe themselves in third person!!

Ha! You’re right the third person description is always weird. Although this one is super long! 😉
I still need to read Caraval. 🙂 Happy weekend!

This is my next one up and I am so excited! I just reread Caraval, and it was so stinkin good the second time around. I cannot wait to dive back into this world.
Yay!! I loved Caraval, too I hope that we both love it. 🙂
I like that beginning! I do need to read these books…

I still haven’t read Caraval yet! It’s such a shame, I know. I’ve heard Legendary’s much better, too.

I wasn’t a huge fan of Caraval but I enjoyed it enough to continue the series especially once I saw that the second book would feature Tella. I actually ended up falling in love with Legendary too. It surprised me how much more I enjoyed it. I can’t wait to see what you think of it 🙂
I only read a few chapters of Caraval. It was a library book and was time to return it, so I quit instead of renewing. If Legendary turns out to be really good, maybe I’ll try again!
