Book to Movie Adaptations in 2016
Book to Movie Adaptations in 2016 are going to be incredible this year! How amazing will it be for book lovers who enjoy watching their favourite novels come to life on the big screen? I know that I am one to get wrapped up in the hype. Sometimes these adaptations are really well done and at times I have left the theatre shaking my head. Regardless of whether these movies are well received by audiences, they are a fantastic opportunity to celebrate books, authors and reading.
Here are a few books being adapted for the screen in 2016 that have me excited:
Me Before You
I just finished reading this one and it is one of the most inspirational and tear-jerking books that I have read in quite a while. The trailer that was released a few months ago inspired me to pick this one up and I am so glad that I did. I look forward to seeing Louisa’s whimsical style and Will’s story come to life.
Alice Through the Looking Glass
This is a book from my childhood that I simply adored. I am not sure that this adaptation is going to be a favourite of mine, as I didn’t enjoy the Alice in Wonderland film. I will nonetheless go and see it out of curiosity!
The Girl on the Train
This book is on my TBR and I really need to get reading it before the movie comes out. I have heard so many fantastic things and I am dying to read it. The trailer looks incredible as well. I think that this is going to be one of the best movies of the year.
The BFG
This childhood story is a fast read that I will definitely be revisiting before it hits the screen. I love Roald Dahl’s books so much and they bring back so many wonderful memories of my first reading experiences. The film looks as fun-filled as the story.
The Great Gilly Hopkins
Another children’s book from the past is being adapted for the screen this year. I remember reading this one and really enjoying all of Katherine Paterson’s books when I was younger. I have a feeling that this will be a very heart-warming film.
A Monster Calls
I have had this book on my radar for quite a while now. The fact that it a haunting story that has humorous elements intrigues me. I am not usually one for scary stories, but the funny parts may make it enjoyable!
Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children
This series is so well-written and the fact that Ransom Riggs is working alongside Tim Burton to create this film has me jumping up and down with excitement. Another creepy Tim Burton movie for the holidays? Sign me up!
Book to movie adaptations in 2016 are going to be epic. Do you intend on watching this year? Is there one that I haven’t listed that has you excited?
I am super pumped for Me Before You and The Girl on the Train. I really think the trailer for Me Before You looks pretty good so I have high hopes!
I am sooo looking forward to all of these but Trough the looking glass is what I’m excited the most for!
I didn’t read Me BEfore You (yet), but I’m really, really looking forward to it, and to see the movie. I already cried while seeing this trailer so… I think I know what I need to prepare: TISSUES, haha 😛 Great post, thank you for sharing!
I am thinking that I will need the largest box of tissues that I can find! <3
I cannot even with how excited I am about some of these. The BFG is my alllll time favourite children’s book so excuse me whilst I bounce on my bed with glee. And I’m RIDICULOUSLY excited for The Girl on the Train – it looks super scary though but I’ll be right (probably not). I’m hoping to start reading Me Before You super soon because I refuse to watch it before I’ve read it!
I’m really looking forward to Me Before You, it looks like it’s going to be so adorable! I didn’t know about a few of these movie adaptations so thank you for putting together a list<3
Eep! I’m super excited for Miss Peregrine’s and Alice Through the Looking Glass! I still need to read Me Before You. The trailer looks phenomenal. 😀
Oh man, so excited for Me Before You and BFG! My book club read Me Before You back in March, and was so sad to find out that the release date got moved to June, haha.
A Monster Calls is on my TBR! Definitely excited!
June is so close now and I have heard so many great things. I am super excited for Me Before You as well!
Every single one of them! I want to see them all. I haven’t read any of these books except for Alice, but I think that has to change!
These all look amazing! I think I’m most excited for A Monster Calls, The Girl on the Train and MBY.
I have some reading to do, because I always like to read the book before seeing the movie!
Me too. I always feel like I cheated somehow if I don’t read the book first! 🙂
I am looking forward to all these movies too; I just hope they don’t stray too far from the books. 😉
I love this list!! Sssooo excited for all these!!
I intend to watch the all. But I am also super excited for the adaptation of Emerald Green by Kerstin Gier (german adaptation) !
Ohhh! That one is new to me. I will have to look for it! <3
I am super excited for Me Before You, Girl on the Train and Miss Peregrine’s Home. So many great books being made into movies!
I am so excited for Alice and Peregrine’s!! What a great year for books and movies!! =)
Great list. I am sure Burton’s Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children will be just sensational.
