I’ll Be the One by Lyla Lee

I'll Be the One by Lyla Lee

I’ll Be the One by Lyla Lee is a book I was really looking forward to since I love any book about a competition, and the K-pop concept sounded like a lot of fun. This book was a very entertaining read, and I loved Skye’s strength, but she is not a very complex character and neither are the side characters. I also had some issues with the pacing and the lack of descriptions of Skye’s performances. This book is an enjoyable read if you are looking for something relatively short and sweet, but for me, I would have liked to see more. Continue reading

The Tiger at Midnight by Swati Teerdhala

The Tiger at Midnight by Swati Teerdhala

The Tiger at Midnight by Swati Teerdhala is a new amazing  YA fantasy trilogy that has me so excited. This book isn’t even out until April, but I am so pumped to get into this world. The cover is striking and the concept is one that I haven’t heard of before. A story inspired by ancient Indian history and Hindu mythology is really intriguing. The early reviews on Goodreads are calling it a cat and mouse game. Doesn’t it sound like a fantastic adventure book? Continue reading

We Set the Dark on Fire, Tehlor Kay Mejia

We Set the Dark on Fire by Tehlor Kay Mejia is a dystopian that this one sounds incredible. I am immediately drawn into this book because of the forbidden love trope. The concept is so intriguing and the cover is just so pretty. It also sounds a bit like The Handmaid’s Tale with its polarized society. Looking forward to finding out more about this one in the spring!

The Vanishing Stair by Maureen Johnson

The Vanishing Star  by Maureen Johnson is a book that I am excited for because I really enjoyed the first book in the Truly Devious series, and I am  looking forward to finding out where the story goes next. I love a great mystery, and Maureen Johnson has become one of my favourite authors. The first book was just such an incredible ride. I love books set at boarding schools for some reason and I am so happy that this next one is going to take place  there as well. Continue reading
