Magonia by Maria Dahvana Headley is a breathtaking series that follows a ship in the sky. Its premise is imaginative and intriguing, and the world-building is phenomenal. Despite my enjoyment of the first book in the series, however, I couldn’t get into its sequel, and to me, the magic of Magonia is lost in Aerie. Continue reading

Spin the Dawn by Elizabeth Lim
Spin the Dawn by Elizabeth Lim intrigued me from my first glimpse as I love Project Runway as well as anything Mulan inspired. This story of a sewing competition is thrilling to read as the main character competes under a fraudulent identity, and I enjoyed her passion and the care she provides for her family. What I didn’t love was the rest of the book after the competition is over, as the story changes dramatically after only a third of the way through. I must say I was disappointed in this one since I had such high hopes for it. Continue reading
What If It’s Us: Becky Albertalli, Adam Silvera
What If It’s Us by Becky Albertalli and Adam Silvera is a book that is at the same time profound and adorable, and the main characters are each likeable. I especially enjoyed seeing both the authors’ signature styles come through at times, and their work fits together nicely. I had extremely high hopes for this one, and it is safe to say that I was not disappointed. Continue reading
Review: Sea Witch by Sarah Henning

I’m not normally a big fan of mermaids, but when I heard that there was a book about Ursula’s origin story, I had to check it out. Sea Witch did not disappoint me, and I enjoyed the main character’s rise to evil. There is also some beautiful writing in this book, and I would definitely recommend it. Continue reading
Grace and Fury by Tracy Banghart
Grace and Fury by Tracy Banghart is the kind of book that draws you in the second you pick it up. The plot is filled with intrigue and feminism, and the main characters are equally enjoyable. The world is also clearly developed, and it is surprisingly easy to picture as our own reality. I definitely enjoyed this one, and I am eager to get my hands on a sequel! Continue reading
