The Vanishing Star  by Maureen Johnson is a book that I am excited for because I really enjoyed the first book in the Truly Devious series, and I am  looking forward to finding out where the story goes next. I love a great mystery, and Maureen Johnson has become one of my favourite authors. The first book was just such an incredible ride. I love books set at boarding schools for some reason and I am so happy that this next one is going to take place  there as well. Continue reading

Review: Truly Devious by Maureen Johnson

Truly Devious by Maureen Johnson is a book that I had high expectations for, since it seemed like exactly my kind of book: boarding school thriller. I don’t have much experience with Maureen Johnson’s books, but after reading this one, I will definitely have to check them out. This book contains two connected mysteries and many peculiar characters. I enjoyed the use of flashbacks, which is not a common occurrence, and the shocking plot twists. The ending bothered me, but I am all the more excited for the next instalment.

Let it Snow by John Green is a collection of connecting short stories that are all so good, It is hard to pick a favourite. The recurring Waffle House setting and the descriptions of staying cozy during a winter storm are wonderful. If I had to choose a favourite, I would probably go with Maureen Johnson’s story, The Jubilee Express. Continue reading
