Summary (from Goodreads):

The irresistible sequel to the bestselling 99 Days.

Molly Barlow isn’t that girl anymore. A business major at her college in Boston, she’s reinvented herself after everything that went down a year ago . . . after all the people she hurt and the family she tore apart.

Slowly, life is getting back to normal. Molly has just said “I love you” to her new boyfriend, Ian, and they are off on a romantic European vacation together, starting with scenic London. But there on a Tube platform, the past catches up to her in the form of Gabe, her ex, traveling on his own parallel vacation with new girlfriend Sadie.

After comparing itineraries, Ian ends up extending an invite for Gabe and Sadie to join them on the next leg of their trip, to Ireland. Sadie, who’s dying to go there, jumps at the prospect. And Molly and Gabe can’t bring themselves to tell the truth about who they once were to each other to their new significant others.

Now Molly has to spend nine days and nine nights with the boy she once loved, the boy whose heart she shredded, without Ian knowing. Will she make it through as new, improved Molly, or will everything that happened between her and Gabe come rushing back?

Review: 9 Days and 9 Nights

I have been anticipating Katie Cotugno’s 9 Days and 9 Nights since I first heard the news of a 99 Days sequel. Molly and Gabe are back, but in an awkward situation, and the story is very realistic. I liked the book, but I did have a couple of issues with it, such as all the pointless drama. I didn’t love this one, but I do think that many will appreciate this sequel. Continue reading

Review: Top Ten by Katie CotugnoTitle: Top Ten
Author: Katie Cotugno
Publisher: Balzer + Bray
Publication Date: October 3, 2017

three-half-stars
Summary (from Goodreads):

Ryan McCullough and Gabby Hart are the unlikeliest of friends. Introverted, anxious Gabby would rather do literally anything than go to a party. Ryan is a star hockey player who can get any girl he wants—and does, frequently. But against all odds, they became not only friends, but each other’s favorite person. Now, as they face high school graduation, they can’t help but take a moment to reminisce and, in their signature tradition, make a top ten list—counting down the top ten moments of their friendship:

10. Where to begin? Maybe the night we met.
9. Then there was our awkward phase.
8. When you were in love with me but never told me…
7. Those five months we stopped talking were the hardest of my life.
6. Through terrible fights…
5. And emotional makeups.
4. You were there for me when I got my heart broken.
3. …but at times, you were also the one breaking it.
2. Above all, you helped me make sense of the world.
1. Now, as we head off to college—how am I possibly going to live without you?

Review: Top Ten by Katie Cotugno

Top Ten by Katie Cotugno is exactly what is sounds like—a nostalgic recap of a four year friendship told in a top ten list format. This story is realistic and contains two opposite main characters. The non-sequential writing style is inventive, but does get a bit hard to follow. I still enjoyed the story, and it truly is an emotional rollercoaster. Continue reading

I have just started this one, but I am really enjoying it so far. Katie Cotugno is one of my favourite contemporary authors, and I have been looking forward to this one for a while. I am loving the format of the characters reliving their top ten moments together, and their experiences are so real. I am excited to keep reading about Gabby and Ryan’s memories together!

Book Beginning:

Sitting with his ankles crossed in Gabby’s leafy green backyard two hours after their high school graduation, Ryan tilted his head back and squinted up at the proud June sun.

Friday 56:

It wasn’t a thing a lot of people knew how to accomplish, and she doubted he’d done it on purpose or even with any awareness that that’s what he was doing, but there it was.
