Spin the Dawn by Elizabeth Lim
Spin the Dawn by Elizabeth Lim intrigued me from my first glimpse as I love Project Runway as well as anything Mulan inspired. This story of a sewing competition is thrilling to read as the main character competes under a fraudulent identity, and I enjoyed her passion and the care she provides for her family. What I didn’t love was the rest of the book after the competition is over, as the story changes dramatically after only a third of the way through. I must say I was disappointed in this one since I had such high hopes for it. Continue reading
Review: Heartwood Box by Ann Aguirre
Heartwood Box by Ann Aguirre is a book that I picked up unsure of what to expect. It is thrilling and mysterious, and it blends multiple genres to create something that I have never seen before. I enjoyed the main character and her determination to makes things right in her new town, however the ending didn’t work out for me, and it impacted my enjoyment of the book. This is still a fantastic read, but I would have enjoyed a different outcome. Continue reading
Review: Maybe This Time by Kasie West
Maybe This Time by Kasie West had been one of my most anticipated reads this spring as I love everything Kasie West writes. I was not disappointed with this book and its concept of two characters falling for each other over the course of nine events. Both Sophie and Andrew are likeable characters, and there is a prominent theme of the importance of family throughout the book. I loved this one, and I can’t wait to see what West writes next. Woven in Moonlight by Isabel Ibañez

This book went on my TBR before I even read the synopsis because of that stunning cover! I am so intrigued by the setting that is inspired by Bolivia. Also, I love that the book features a weaver who hides messages in tapestries. How cool is that?! Continue reading
