Love in English by Maria E. Andreu is a book all about finding your voice when you might not have the words to express yourself. This is such a touching story, tinged with humour, and the main character is easy to connect with. The style of the book, allowing the reader to share Ana’s confusion, is also one of its strengths. Those looking for a sweet and thought-provoking contemporary will love this one. Continue reading
A Taste for Love by Jennifer Yen
A Taste for Love by Jennifer Yen combines two of my favourite things in YA–baking and competition. This is a dark read, one about emotional manipulation and how cults prey on vulnerability. The characters are incredibly complex, and the writing style provides an immersive reading experience. This one truly drew me in and had me questioning what I should believe about The Unity Project. Continue reading
The Divines by Ellie Eaton
The Divines by Ellie Eaton is a coming of age story that is shocking and seductive. The book has a dual timeline and a flawed, dislikable main character that is revisiting her teen years at an elite boarding school for girls. While this debut is beautifully written, the audio version will definitely draw you in and captivate you. Continue reading
