Heartwood Box by Ann Aguirre is a book that I picked up unsure of what to expect. It is thrilling and mysterious, and it blends multiple genres to create something that I have never seen before. I enjoyed the main character and her determination to makes things right in her new town, however the ending didn’t work out for me, and it impacted my enjoyment of the book. This is still a fantastic read, but I would have enjoyed a different outcome. Continue reading

Stronger, Faster, and More Beautiful by Arwen Elys Dayton is the kind of book that is so realistic that it’s frightening. These six short stories discuss human modification, and they are each very believable. The last story is especially engaging. For those interested in the future of humanity, this is a great read.

Wildcard by Marie Lu has an exciting plot that is just as exciting as Warcross. The main character is also strong, and there is a prominent theme of family that I loved.
