One for All by Lillie Lainoff is the gender-bent retelling of The Three Musketeers that I have been waiting for. With its action-packed plot and compelling cast of characters, this one lived up to all of my expectations. The audiobook is equally well done, and I had no issues keeping up with the fast-moving plot. This is a meaningful story of sisterhood and sword fights that fans of historical fiction will love. The Great Gatsby adapted by K. Woodman-Maynard is a great way to make The Great Gatsby more accessible in a YA graphic novel format. I enjoyed the slight changes the author makes to the source material, and the art style makes elements such as mood and symbolism much easier to understand. However, I also felt as though the story is rushed, and the art also makes the text difficult to read at times. Despite this, I still appreciated what the book accomplishes in terms of making The Great Gatsby easier to digest. Continue reading

Geekerella by Ashley Poston is a fresh retelling of Cinderella that incorporates fan culture and a relationship that blossoms via text. I loved how the author outlines what Starfield means to different characters, and the main character is strong and likeable.
