Every Reason We Shouldn’t by Sara Fujimura seemed like the perfect book for me since I am a big fan of any story about skating. While I did enjoy this concept, I had many issues with the book, including the immature main character and the lack of discussion around the sensitive topics presented. Of Curses and Kisses by Sandhya Menon is an interesting take on Beauty and the Beast. Its boarding school setting is dream-like and the characters are compelling. However, the pacing of this story was a tad off and affected my overall enjoyment. Continue reading
Diamond City by Francesca Flores is a book I had been anticipating due to its supposed action and dark magic. The premise interested me, and I enjoyed the idea of an assassination gone wrong and some unlikely allies. Despite this, many elements of the story are quite flat, including the main character and the setting, and I was ultimately unimpressed. Continue reading
The Legend Trilogy by Marie Lu is an action-packed fantasy series about a plague and government secrecy. June and Day are remarkable main characters, and the setting is fully developed. I adored this YA book series, and I would definitely recommend it to fans of dystopian novels like The Hunger Games. Continue reading
