Championess by Tarun Shanker and Kelly Zekas is an action-packed story of strength and perseverance despite the odds being stacked against you. It’s no secret that I love any story about sports, and I was excited to see that this one is based on a true story. The main character, Elizabeth Wilkinson, has inspiring toughness, and the gorgeous art makes her story even more compelling. Tokyo Ever After by Emiko Jean is such a delight to read. Following a girl who discovers she is a princess, this is an entertaining story of self-discovery with a helping of royal mishaps. I loved the main character’s voice, and the side characters bring even more amusement to the book. The Prison Healer by Lynette Noni is pretty far out of my comfort zone, however I was willing to give it a try because Noni’s Whisper series was so enjoyable. I am glad I decided to pick this one up, as its fast pacing and high stakes gripped me from page one. The main character is also dynamic, and the setting is described in vivid detail.
