Up All Night: 13 Stories Between Sunset and Sunrise by Laura Silverman (editor) is an exciting collection of short stories that all take place between sunset and sunrise. This open-ended prompt leaves room for many unique interpretations, and I was impressed with the wide range of stories within the anthology as well as its diversity. This is a great read for summer nights with a story to satisfy any reader. Continue reading
The Darkening by Sunya Mara is the first instalment in a gripping new fantasy series that kept me hooked from page one. With experimental magic, a cursed storm, an undercover protagonist, and a royal love interest, this one contains so many elements that I love. I especially enjoyed the balance between worldbuilding and action, which makes this one a rich and unputdownable debut that fantasy fans will love. Continue reading
Katzenjammer by Francesca Zappia is a gripping horror novel that lingered with me long after I finished reading. With its eerie premise and gorgeous prose, I was initially impressed by how quickly the author drew me in. However, I had some issues with the book’s disturbing ending, making this a difficult review to write. I have mixed feelings about this one, but I would recommend it to those looking for a thought-provoking and suspenseful read. Continue reading
Love Radio by Ebony LaDelle is an entertaining romcom all about falling in love. Featuring a radio host who must learn to take his own romantic advice, two realistic main characters, and heavier themes that bring even more depth to the adorable romance, this one checks many boxes for me. Fans of authors like Nicola Yoon will enjoy this sweet and thoughtful contemporary. Continue reading
