To Capture What We Cannot Keep by Beatrice Colin is glamorous and intriguing. It is a unique and interesting story surrounding the construction of the Eiffel Tower in Paris. There are also beautiful passages and gorgeous descriptions of the fashion and lifestyle during the time period. However, the main character, Cait, goes through so many personality changes that I had a hard time liking her as a character towards the end of the novel. Continue reading
Faithful by Alice Hoffman is a book that gives you hope that there actually is goodness in everyone. It is a story that explores many themes, such as grief, love and family. This book is one that will appeal to many, however, there are some very difficult topics that are prevalent in this novel, so I will caution anyone who is triggered by scenes of rape and self-harm. Hag-Seed by Margaret Atwood is one book that is not to be missed if you are a fan of Shakespeare and his plays. Margaret Atwood has crafted an interesting and creative revisiting of Shakespeare’s The Tempest in this 4th book in the Hogarth Shakespeare series. The Light Between Oceans by M.L. Stedman is a movie that does not compare to the book. The book by M.L. Stedman is an incredibly addictive five star story and contains characters that will stay with you long after reading It and will break your heart into a million pieces. Albeit, the movie adaptation is one that truly has beautiful cinematography and wonderful acting, it just does not live up to the original book. Continue reading
The Couple Next Door by Shari Lapena is sure to provide some thrilling chills to fans of the thriller genre. This book is so fast-paced, it will make your head spin. Also, Lapena does a fantastic job developing all of the characters that at some points, the reader is never really sure who the culprit really is. The writing is so descriptive as well, and it makes the events that unfold seem to come alive as you are reading this incredible story. Continue reading
