This is such a touching story, tinged with humour, and the main character is easy to connect with. The style of the book, allowing the reader to share Ana’s confusion, is also one of its strengths. Charming as a Verb by Ben Philippe is a book I wish had been released when I was in my senior year of high school. Filled with both entertaining mishaps and vulnerability, this is a realistic depiction of the end of high school. Henri is a relatable main character who makes mistakes, and the descriptions of the New York/Montreal backdrop makes the book even more special. I would definitely recommend this one. The Academy by Katie Sise is an entertaining novel that includes both fashion and military boarding school. The plot is so much fun, and the main character is easy to root for. I found that the ending of the book seemed a little too rushed, but overall, I had a great time reading. Continue reading

You Say it First by Katie Cotugno sounds like a perfect YA contemporary novel. This book does give me some Morgan Matson’s The Unexpected Everything Vibes. I am curious to find out how the long distance relationship works out. Also, that cover is super cute. Continue reading

The Rest of the Story by Sarah Dessen is a book that I had been eagerly anticipating as I am a big fan of her realistic contemporaries. This one has an interesting setting as well as a realistic main character, albeit the plot is quite slow paced. Even so, I really enjoyed this one, and it is classic Sarah Dessen. Continue reading
