I always love summery reads, but I don’t think I’ve ever read a book in which the main character owns a campsite. Whisper by Lynette Noni is an incredibly secretive book with a main character who has not spoken since her capture. The writing style is also fitting for the story, making it even more enjoyable. It is a perfect sci-fi novel.

The Summer of Broken Things by Margaret Peterson Haddix is an intriguing book set in beautiful Spain. It is a story about family secrets, and it contains two main characters who change drastically throughout the book. I did find the plot to be predictable, but it didn’t take away from my enjoyment too much. I would recommend this one to younger readers looking for a summer read with a message. Continue reading
