Summary (from Goodreads):

Carey Douglas has worked for home remodeling and design gurus Melissa and Rusty Tripp for nearly a decade. A country girl at heart, Carey started in their first store at sixteen, and—more than anyone would suspect—has helped them build an empire. With a new show and a book about to launch, the Tripps are on the verge of superstardom. There’s only one problem: America’s favorite couple can’t stand each other.

James McCann, MIT graduate and engineering genius, was originally hired as a structural engineer, but the job isn’t all he thought it’d be. The last straw? Both he and Carey must go on book tour with the Tripps and keep the wheels from falling off the proverbial bus.

Unfortunately, neither of them is in any position to quit. Carey needs health insurance, and James has been promised the role of a lifetime if he can just keep the couple on track for a few more weeks. While road-tripping with the Tripps up the West Coast, Carey and James vow to work together to keep their bosses’ secrets hidden, and their own jobs secure. But if they stop playing along—and start playing for keeps—they may have the chance to build something beautiful together…

Review: The Honey-Don’t List by Christina Lauren

If you are looking for an easy to read story that has a bit of romance and humour, The Honey Don’t List is one to try. There is a serious side to the story, as the main characters are struggling to get ahead in their lives, but it is offset by some fun and flirty moments.

❀ Relatable Characters

Christina Lauren books always seem to have characters that are easy to relate to. Carey is a character that shows quite a lot of growth throughout the story. Her realization that she needs to take the reigns and make her own way in the world are really admirable. On the other hand, James is an unexpected love interest who is in Carey’s corner when things get rough. I really enjoyed watching their relationship unfold.

❀ Theme of Standing up for Yourself

The theme of standing up for yourself is prevalent throughout the novel, as Carey learns to take chances and fight for herself. She seems hesitant at first and then really starts to become her own advocate. It is really fantastic to watch her transformation.

❀ A Light Read

The Honey Don’t List by Christina Lauren is a light read that has a bit of everything. The romance and the humour are mixed with a serious side that really seem to work together. This is my second Christina Lauren novel and I am excited to read more of their work.
