Summary (from Goodreads):

Amelia Rose, known as Rae Rose to her adoring fans, is burned-out from years of maintaining her "princess of pop" image. Inspired by her favorite Audrey Hepburn film, Roman Holiday, she drives off in the middle of the night for a break in Rome . . . Rome, Kentucky, that is.

When Noah Walker finds Amelia on his front lawn in her broken-down car, he makes it clear he doesn't have the time or patience for celebrity problems. He's too busy running the pie shop his grandmother left him and reminding his nosy but lovable neighbors to mind their own damn business. Despite his better judgment, he lets her stay in his guest room--but only until her car is fixed--then she's on her own.

Then Noah starts to see a different side of Rae Rose--she's Amelia: kindhearted and goofy, yet lonely from years in the public eye. He can't help but get close to her. Soon she'll have to return to her glamorous life on tour, but until then, Noah will show Amelia all the charming small-town experiences she's been missing, and she'll help him open his heart to more.

Amelia can't resist falling for the cozy town and her grumpy tour guide, but even Audrey had to leave Rome eventually.

❃ I received this book for free from the publisher in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review. ❃

This book is super cute and is a very loose retelling of the classic Audrey Hepburn movie, Roman Holiday. When Rae decides that she needs a break from stardom, she escapes to Rome, Kentucky, where she meets Noah Walker. While these two characters start off as enemies, they slowly become lovers after a series of humorous and laugh out loud moments.

❀ Character Driven

The story is very character driven and has so many fantastic characters, including the side characters. It is told from the perspectives of both Rae and Noah, who are so much fun and very enjoyable to read about. I loved all of the banter between Noah and Rae and their slow-burn romance makes the book a perfect rom-com.

❀ Hallmark Vibes

Although this is a retelling of a classic movie, it has a lot of Hallmark vibes. Its small town setting and close-knit community are really lovely. Noah’s  tight relationship with his family adds even more of a heartwarming feel to the story.

❀ Feel-Good Enemies to Lovers Book

When in Rome by Sarah Adams is a feel-good enemies to lovers book that will lift your spirits. If you enjoy a light contemporary romance novel, then this is a book to add to your list. Fans of the author’s other books will not be disappointed with this one.
