Hattie Kavanaugh went to work helping clean up restored homes for Kavanaugh & Son Restorations at 18; married the boss’s son at 20; and was only 25 when her husband, Hank, was killed in a motorcycle accident.
Broken hearted, but determined to continue the business of their dreams, she takes the life insurance money, buys a small house in a gentrifying neighborhood, flips it, then puts the money into her next project. But that house is a disaster and a money-loser, which rocks her confidence for years to come. Then, Hattie gets a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity: star in a beach house renovation reality show called The Homewreckers, cast against a male lead who may be a love interest, or may be the ultimate antagonist. It's a question of who will flip, and who will flop, and will Hattie ever get her happily-ever-after.
Filled with Mary Kay Andrews's trademark wit, warmth, junking trips, and house porn, The Homewreckers is a summer beach delight.

Review: The Homewreckers by Mary Kay Andrews
Hattie is such an interesting main character with lots of depth. She is determined and hard-working, yet her past is full of hardships. Her positive attitude is admirable and her strong-willed personality makes her a relatable main character.
❀ Reality T.V. Theme
I am a sucker for reality T.V. themes in books, and the reality home improvement show adds an intriguing atmosphere to the book. There is a great deal of drama surrounding the show and this adds a bit of comic relief to the, at times, dark plot. It is entertaining to read about the behind-the-scenes process of a home improvement show and it brings a little bit of romance to the story as well.
❀ A cozy Mystery on the side
When a wallet is uncovered during some demolition, the book adds a little cozy mystery to solve for its readers. The unsolved case of a beloved teacher gone missing from the small community becomes an interesting subplot that opens up a whole can of worms. It adds an element of excitement to the book and it is enjoyable to read about the events leading up to the teacher’s disappearance.
❀ Does Not Disappoint
The Homewreckers by Mary Kay Andrews is a book that fans of her other books will enjoy. It has a little bit of everything all rolled into one little story. This is an author that never disappoints and I am looking forward to reading more of her titles.
