Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly event hosted by Breaking the Spine that spotlights upcoming releases that we’re eagerly anticipating.

This week’s book: Rebel of the Sands

Rebel of the SandsTitle: Rebel of the Sands
Author: Alwyn Hamilton
Publisher: Viking
Publication Date: March 8, 2016

Summary (from Goodreads):

Mortals rule the desert nation of Miraji, but mythical beasts still roam the wild and remote areas, and rumor has it that somewhere, djinn still perform their magic.  For humans, it’s an unforgiving place, especially if you’re poor, orphaned, or female.

Amani Al’Hiza is all three.  She’s a gifted gunslinger with perfect aim, but she can’t shoot her way out of Dustwalk, the back-country town where she’s destined to wind up wed or dead.

Then she meets Jin, a rakish foreigner, in a shooting contest, and sees him as the perfect escape route. But though she’s spent years dreaming of leaving Dustwalk, she never imagined she’d gallop away on mythical horse—or that it would take a foreign fugitive to show her the heart of the desert she thought she knew.

Rebel of the Sands reveals what happens when a dream deferred explodes—in the fires of rebellion, of romantic passion, and the all-consuming inferno of a girl finally, at long last, embracing her power.

Thoughts

This week’s WOW is a little bit different because I am participating in a fun blogger project in relation to Rebel of The Sands. This story tells of a world where metal and magic clash with deadly consequences. Amani finds herself becoming a myth in the making, legendary for her sharp-shooting skills, more gunpowder than girl. So, inspired by Amani’s legendary skills and growing reputation, I present to you my own blogger reputation post!

Some of you may be familiar with my constant hair brained ideas. Now, I have to admit that not every idea that I come up with is necessarily bad or crazy for that matter. However, I do sometimes let my imagination run wild and I have a hard time knowing when to stop. Let’s just say that once I put my mind to do something, I build and build and build upon it and never seem to let it go.

Do you have a reputation that follows you around?

I think that I probably have a reputation of drinking too much coffee, zoning-out when I read books, and reorganizing my bookshelf too often. ;-D I am really excited for “Rebel of The Sands” to come out! Great post!
