Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly event hosted by Breaking the Spine that spotlights upcoming releases that we’re eagerly anticipating.
This week’s book: Because You Love to Hate Me

Author: Amerie
Publisher: Bloomsbury USA Childrens
Publication Date: July 11, 2017

Leave it to the heroes to save the world--villains just want to rule the world.
In this unique YA anthology, thirteen acclaimed, bestselling authors team up with thirteen influential BookTubers to reimagine fairy tales from the oft-misunderstood villains' points of view.
These fractured, unconventional spins on classics like "Medusa," Sherlock Holmes, and "Jack and the Beanstalk" provide a behind-the-curtain look at villains' acts of vengeance, defiance, and rage--and the pain, heartbreak, and sorrow that spurned them on. No fairy tale will ever seem quite the same again!
Featuring writing from . . .

Thoughts
This anthology looks so different from anything I’ve ever seen before! It is so interesting how 13 authors and 13 BookTubers teamed up to create a collection of short stories about villains. Some of my favourite authors have contributed to this book, and I am excited to see what’s in store. Fractured fairy tales are among my favourite topics in YA, so I am sure that I will love this book. I can’t wait until the summer to have this is my hands.
ooh, I love the title on this one. And the cover looks gorgeous too.
My WoW post.
This sounds so cool and really different! Getting the villain’s perspective might really change the feel of some of these stories!
Right?! I can’t wait to find out how they choose to write them!
Seems like I’ve had this on my wishlist forever. I’m interested to see how it plays out too but I’m excited to fall in love with some of these villains.
Me, too! It is definitely going to be interesting. 🙂

I’m interested in this one! I’m always a little hesitant when it comes to anthologies but stories about villians?!?! That’s too good to pass up 🙂
I know exactly what you mean about anthologies. Some stories are not always up to par I find. This one is going to be different, though! 🙂
OHMYGOSH YESSSS!!!! Highly anticipated book for me as well! I also have a ton of respect for Amerie who edited this collection and there are just so many faves both authors & Booktubers in this collabo. Great pick 😉
I know, right?! This one just has so much epic potential! 🙂

I am not an anthology person, but the concept of this one is cool, and I adore the cover! It is very graphic and cool!
