This week’s book: What to say next

Author: Julie Buxbaum
Publisher: Delacorte Press
Publication Date: July 11, 2107

Two struggling teenagers find an unexpected connection just when they need it most.
Sometimes a new perspective is all that is needed to make sense of the world.
KIT: I don’t know why I decide not to sit with Annie and Violet at lunch. It feels like no one here gets what I’m going through. How could they? I don’t even understand.
DAVID: In the 622 days I’ve attended Mapleview High, Kit Lowell is the first person to sit at my lunch table. I mean, I’ve never once sat with someone until now. “So your dad is dead,” I say to Kit, because this is a fact I’ve recently learned about her.
When an unlikely friendship is sparked between relatively popular Kit Lowell and socially isolated David Drucker, everyone is surprised, most of all Kit and David. Kit appreciates David’s blunt honesty—in fact, she finds it bizarrely refreshing. David welcomes Kit’s attention and her inquisitive nature. When she asks for his help figuring out the how and why of her dad’s tragic car accident, David is all in. But neither of them can predict what they’ll find. Can their friendship survive the truth?

Thoughts
I really enjoy a great contemporary read during the summer and this book seems to have all the elements required. A little bit of drama, a little bit of mystery and an interesting friendship sound right up my alley. Also, that cover is super cute and is what drew me into this one immediately. Looking forward to adding this one to my summer TBR, for sure!
I can’t believe I haven’t heard of this one yet, it sounds absolutely fantastic.
Great choice this week, I hope we both love it 🙂
I just discovered it recently myself. It sounds awesome, doesn’t it? <3
I also prefer reading contemporary books in the summer, so this is a great choice! I hope you love this one 😀

I think I end up reading more contemporaries in comparison to the other books on my TBR, but the summertime is definitely my time to really indulge in them! 🙂
I haven’t had a chance to read Tell Me Three Things yet, but this sounds like such an amazing summer read! Definitely one to curl up with when it’s too hot outside to do much else – adding it to my TBR list!
I haven’t read that one either. I am really looking forward to a summer of contemporaries! 🙂
This sounds cute and something that could like you said be a fun summer read! My WoW
This book sounds cute and I haven’t read a good contemporary book in a long time. 🙂
This sounds really, really cute.. And seriously emotional. The cover is intriguing too. I think this is one to add to my TBR list!
I agree – that cover is adorable. And I do love unconventional friendships.
Great pick!
