Tyler Johnson Was Here by Jay Coles first caught my attention with that gorgeous cover! The story, however, seems as though it is not going to be so pretty. Does this book not sound like it is going to be incredibly gripping and hard-hitting? I look forward to learning more about this one and I am sure that copious amounts of tissues will be on hand as well.

This seems to be a new trend in books but I’m okay with that. I’m super curious about this one and wish it was coming out sooner as I am planning a mini read of Dear Martin and The Hate You Give around MLK day.
That is a perfect time for those books, for sure. There definitely is a trend towards this theme, for sure. It is one that has been neglected in YA for too long.

Yeah, there will definitely be tears involved with this one, no doubt about it. It sounds like a very “now” story, and hopefully it will be what it should be.
