Wrap-Up Post: Summer TBR Wipeout 2017

Wipeout

When I started planning for this challenge, August seemed to be so far away. Well, here we are in the middle of August and this reading challenge is coming to a close! It is a little bitter sweet because I have really enjoyed taking hold of my reading schedule and actually dusting off a few of the books sitting on my physical shelves and reading them. However, I would be lying if I didn’t let you know how excited I am to crack open the stack of books that I have to review in the next few weeks. I suppose it is a way for me to recharge a little bit. I have definitely figured out my reading habits and scheduling backlist books into the schedule is something that I intend to do more often in the upcoming months.

These are all of the books that I planned to read over the summer, plus one additional book, A Stranger in the House,  that I added half way through. These books can all be found on my Goodreads shelf, if you are interested in learning more about them.

My favourite reads this summer were:

I listened to both The Gentleman’s Guide to Vice and Virtue and Noteworthy on Audible and absolutely loved both of these books. I intend to insert a few more audiobooks into my TBR from now on. I really enjoyed being able to read a book while attending to other things. You can’t go wrong with Sarah J. Maas in my opinion, so it is no surprise to me that I loved A Court of Mist and Fury so much. Also, Something Like Happy is a book that really took me by surprise! This one has so many layers to it and really had a nice message to find positivity in your life.

I hope that everyone who participated enjoyed this challenge and that you were able to make at least a small dent in your TBRs! Thanks so much for joining me. If you have any suggestions for future challenges, I would love to hear from you.

Wipeout

Well, it is time to find out whether everyone was able to wipeout a few books from their TBRs this summer. I am looking forward to reading all of your posts and discover some more books that I will inevitably add to the TBR in the process. Does the TBR ever really get smaller? I do enjoy clearing the books off of my list to make room for new ones, though. So, maybe it all works out in the end! Make sure to add your post to the linky and don’t forget to pick-up some more entries on the rafflecopter!

GIVEAWAY:

To sweeten the deal, I will also be giving away a book of choice worth up to $20 CAD. As always, the giveaway is open internationally as long as The Book Depository or Amazon ships to you!

Update Post #2: Summer TBR Wipeout 2017

Wipeout

Can you believe that it is August already, and that we are nearing the end of this summer reading challenge? I have really been enjoying reading some of the backlist titles that have been collecting dust on my bookshelves this summer, and it has been nice to feel a little bit more in control of my reading schedule. I have been polishing off most of the books that I have chosen to read and I only have a few left to finish before the challenge is up!

Here is what I have read for this part of the challenge:

Right now, I am reading A Court of Mist and Fury. I absolutely love Sarah J. Maas, however those mega books that are 600 pages plus are always a struggle for me to read due to time constraints. I have set aside this whole week to indulge in this baby and I am about a quarter of the way through. Also, that pesky sister of mine is going to be listening to the last little bit of The Sisterhood of the Travelling Pants with me whether she likes it or not! We have less than an hour left to go, so I am sure that we can get that one finished before this challenge is over!

Once these books are all read, I have just a couple more to go, so I am hoping that I have the time to read them all. I am fairly certain that I will, and with titles like these, I think that I will be able to whip them off quite easily!

All of these titles are on my Goodreads shelf if you are interested in learning more!

Update Post #1- Summer TBR Wipeout 2017

Wipeout

I think that the best part of any reading challenge is the encouragement we give to one another. I also love the wonderful conversations that are popping up about all of the books we are reading. I have had so many new recommendations and additions to my TBR, that I am considering the challenge should be renamed Summer TBR Additions!

My TBR for the summer isn’t as big as some of the other ones out there, but I think that I have made pretty good progress so far. I have finished 6 books out of the 16 that I have chosen and I am almost finished with the 4 that I am currently reading, so I hope that I can continue along at this pace and read all of them before the challenge is over.

Here is what I have read so far:

So far, my favourite is The Child by Fiona Barton. It is a really interesting thriller that is about a baby that is discovered years later in a construction site. It seems a bit gruesome, but it is more about a reporter trying to solve the mystery.

Currently, I am reading quite a few books all at once. I am reviewing a cookbook, so that has been fun, because it involves creating some yummy pumpkin dishes. I am listening to The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants with my sister, so until we head out on our next road trip in a few days, it is on hold and I am really desperate to continue on with it. I am also reading Persuasion by Martina Boone and I am enjoying it so far, but I have had to set it aside because I have Just Friends to review next week, and although I have tried to keep the blog from dictating my summer reading, it has crept in. Always the case, it seems, when you are a book blogger!

35505494Next up on my TBR is Noteworthy by Riley Redgate. I have this one on Audible and I am looking forward to listening to it while I sort through my bookshelves and try to organize the chaos a little bit. Definitely a good way to spend an afternoon, don’t you think?

All of these titles can be found on my Goodreads shelf if you are interested in learning more about them.

How is your summer reading going so far?

FAIRY.png

Welcome back! We had so much fun last year during our inaugural summer of wiping out our TBRs, that I thought we had better do it all over again! I am going to keep the same format as last year, as it was quite simple and straight forward. No need to stress ourselves out over the summer months, right?

To make the Summer TBR Wipeout simple and inclusive to everyone, I am opening this up to anyone who wants to participate. You do not have to run a book blog or a website for that matter. All that I ask is that you create your posts on some sort of social media website, such as Instagram, Facebook or Tumblr, etc. You can also read backlist books, ARCs, new releases, audiobooks,  or anything else that has been beckoning you to read it. There will be 4 posts in total that you can link up to here on The Candid Cover.

GIVEAWAY:

To sweeten the deal, I will also be giving away a book of choice worth up to $20 CAD. As always, the giveaway is open internationally as long as The Book Depository or Amazon ships to you!
