Today’s Teaser Tuesday: Stone Field by Christy Lenzi

Author: Christy Lenzi
Publisher: Roaring Brook Press
Publication Date: March 29, 2016

In a small town on the brink of the Civil War, Catrina finds a man making strange patterns in her family’s sorghum crop. He’s mad with fever, naked, and strikingly beautiful. He has no memory of who he is or what he’s done before Catrina found him in Stone Field. But that doesn’t bother Catrina because she doesn’t like thinking about the things she’s done before either.
Catrina and Stonefield fall passionately, dangerously, in love. All they want is to live with each other, in harmony with the land and away from Cat’s protective brother, the new fanatical preacher, and the neighbors who are scandalized by their relationship. But Stonefield can’t escape the truth about who he is, and the conflict tearing apart the country demands that everyone take a side before the bloodbath reaches their doorstep.
Inspired by Emily Bronte’s Wuthering Heights.

I have just started this one, and it is interesting so far. I am very intrigued by the Civil War aspects!
Book Quotes: Stone Field
“I don’t give a damn about being proper. It’s just a mess of rules that people make up so they can have a say in other people’s business.”
It sure seems that way sometimes. Interesting take on the Wuthering Heights story. Enjoy.
I tend to agree with the character. This book sounds intriguing!
My TT post.
I enjoyed this one despite the fact that it started slowly for me. I hope you like it too. My YA teaser this week comes from A Drop of Night by Stefan Bachmann. Happy reading!
It did get off to a slow start, but I did really enjoy it once the story got going.
I haven’t read many retellings of the classics, but I do like the sound of this one. Thanks for sharing…and here’s mine: “UNDER THE INFLUENCE”
From your intriguing bit here it sounds a bit like a retelling of The Summer of My German Soldier. I like the sound of this very much. Thanks for sharing.
I will have to check that one out! <3
This sounds like a really interesting one – a Civil War take on Wuthering Heights… Does it really reflect the brutality and atmosphere of Wuthering Heights? This is my TT this week – a new venture for an established author: https://sjhigbee.wordpress.com/2016/03/08/teaser-tuesday-8th-march-2016/
It took a little while for this book to get going, but I ended up really enjoying it!
I look forward to reading your review:). It sounds really intriguing – and I’m glad you like it.
All that I can think is that I cannot wait to see what your review says, and hoping it says just how good this book is, I am just so stinkin excited about this one!
Wuthering heights breaks my heart! I don’t know if I’d read this but I quite agree about the being proper!
The book was slow to start, but it ended up being one that I really enjoyed. I was really surprised by it and I hope that if you do pick it up, you will enjoy it! 🙂
I just got this ARC in the mail today! I can’t wait to read it. And I have to agree with the teaser that you posted. =]
I hope that you enjoy it! I loved this one more than I expected to. 🙂
Lovely! Let me play along with my current beautiful read: Shattered Blue (The Light Trilogy) by Lauren Bird Horowitz.
Here is the teaser: Somewhere in Callum’s better consciousness, beneath the shadow, a little voice cried out for mercy. But it was small, and faint. NO SPOILER 😉
Love it!! Thank you so much for sharing. I have seen this book a lot lately and have been quite intrigued by it. I really need to read it soon! 🙂
I like this teaser, haha. Sounds like a good book, I hope it’s super epic like it sounds! The Civil war aspect does sound intriguing! Hope you enjoyed it (:
