Welcome to this week’s edition of Friday Reads! Today I am sharing a few quotes from Siege and Storm by Leigh Bardugo. I started this series for a previous challenge and I ended up putting it aside. I am ready to give it another try this summer because I know that I am going to love it.
Book Beginnings is a book meme hosted by Rose City Reader where participants share quotes (the first sentence, or so) of the book, along with initial thoughts about the sentence, impressions of the book, or anything else the opener inspires.
The Friday 56 is hosted by Freda’s Voice, and the rules are quite simple: Grab a book, any book, and turn to page 56 or 56% in your e-reader. Find any non-spoilery sentence(s) and post.

Book Quotes: Siege and Storm by Leigh Bardugo
The boy and the girl had once dreamed of ships, long ago, before they’d ever seen the True Sea. They were the vessels of stories, magic ships with masts hewn from sweet cedar and sails spun by maidens from thread of pure gold.
The week wore on, and on the sixth day, Genya woke me early. As I gathered my wits, I realized it was barley dawn. Fear sliced through me.
I really enjoyed the Six of Crows duology, and I loved the first book in The Grisha trilogy so much. I am hoping that this time around I feel differently about Siege and Storm because I know how much everyone loves this series.
