Welcome to this week’s edition of Wishlist Wednesday! Today I am featuring The Kingdom of Back by Marie Lu. When I first heard of this book, I squealed with excitement and I hope you do, too.
Can’t-Wait Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Wishful Endings to spotlight and discuss the books we’re excited about and have yet to read. It is a spin-off of the original meme, Waiting on Wednesday that was formerly hosted by Breaking the Spine.

Author: Marie Lu
Publisher: G.P. Putnam's Sons Books for Young Readers
Publication Date: March 3, 2020

Born with a gift for music, Nannerl Mozart has just one wish: to be remembered forever. But even as she delights audiences with her masterful playing, she has little hope she'll ever become the acclaimed composer she longs to be. She is a young woman in eighteenth-century Europe, and that means composing is forbidden to her. She will perform only until she reaches a marriageable age—her tyrannical father has made that much clear.
As Nannerl's hope grows dimmer with each passing year, the talents of her beloved younger brother, Wolfgang, only seem to shine brighter. His brilliance begins to eclipse her own, until one day a mysterious stranger from a magical land appears with an irresistible offer. He has the power to make her wish come true—but his help may cost her everything.
In her first work of historical fiction, #1 New York Times bestselling author Marie Lu spins a lush, lyrically told story of music, magic, and the unbreakable bond between a brother and sister.

Thoughts
I love anything Marie Lu writes, and I am intrigued by the fact that she has stepped into the historical fiction realm. There are so many exciting aspects about it so far. Mozart, a female who is obviously going to kick butt, and magic. I am here for it!
I got more and more interested as the blurb went on! And the cover is so beautiful, it looks like it’s glowing!
I think so, too! That cover is amazing! 🙂
It’s exciting to see her try a new genre and I’m curious to try this one too.
