Defy the Stars by Claudia Gray is a series that I am so excited about! I find her writing to be so beautiful. Space books have really intrigued me lately, and, while I haven’t read too many, I have loved every one I’ve picked up. What interests me the most about this book is the fact that there are both robots and humans, but they are against each other. I can’t wait to see what Defy the Stars has in store this spring!

Defy The Stars by Claudia GrayTitle: Defy the Stars
Author: Claudia Gray
Publisher: Little Brown Books for Young Readers
Publication Date: April 4, 2017

Summary (from Goodreads):

She's a soldier - Noemi Vidal is willing to risk anything to protect her planet, Genesis, including her own life. To their enemies on Earth, she's a rebel.

He's a machine - Abandoned in space for years, utterly alone, Abel's advanced programming has begun to evolve. He wants only to protect his creator, and to be free. To the people of Genesis, he's an abomination.

Noemi and Abel are enemies in an interstellar war, forced by chance to work together as they embark on a daring journey through the stars. Their efforts would end the fighting for good, but they're not without sacrifice. The stakes are even higher than either of them first realized, and the more time they spend together, the more they're forced to question everything they'd been taught was true.

Fast-paced, romantic, and captivating, Defy The Stars is a story about what it means to be human, about deciding what you truly believe in, and about finding your place in a dangerous world.

The opposite of faith isn’t doubt. The opposite of faith is certainty.

Your soul is bigger than your programming.

About Claudia Gray

Image of Claudia Gray

Claudia Gray is not my real name. I didn't choose a pseudonym because my real name is unpleasant (it isn't), because I'd always dreamed of calling myself this (I haven't) or even because I'm hiding from the remnants of that international diamond-smuggling cartel I smashed in 2003 (Interpol has taken care of them). In short, I took a pseudonym for no real reason whatsoever. Sometimes this is actually the best reason to do things.

I live in New Orleans. So far, in life, I've been a disc jockey, a lawyer, a journalist and an extremely bad waitress, just to name a few. I especially like to spend time traveling, hiking, reading and listening to music. More than anything else, I enjoy writing.

That cover is really beautiful and is what first drew me to the book. The fact that it’s a YA Sci-Fi? Pretty awesome! I have to admit I haven’t yet read anything by Claudia Gray but now you’ve made me want to check her books out.

    Great pick!

Claudia Gray has been on my TBR for a long time, but I have never gotten around to reading her series yet. But, I might read this one first since it involves space and action. Recently, space fiction has been my craving. Great pick!

I haven’t heard all that much about this book until now. And I haven’t read any Claudia Gray in years (I never finished her first trilogy oops, and I have Fateful sitting on my TBR). This sounds quite interesting though. I’m really interested to see how the mech aspect translate into a novel (I’ve only ever really seen it in anime and movies before)

I am not usually a big fan of space stories, but Illuminae and Gemina really blew me away. And with the author being Claudia Gray, I don’t think that I can resist this one.
