Review: Bloodwitch by Susan Dennard

If there is one thing that I have come to expect from Susan Dennard’s writing, it is her ability to craft an amazing fight scene that is both gripping and intense. The battles in Bloodwitch are the most exciting in the series so far. The use of magic and the fact that women are at the forefront of these gruesome conflicts is absolutely thrilling.

❀ Well-Developed Characters

While this book has a focus on the Bloodwitch, Aeduan, it digs deeper into the lives of all the characters. Vivia continues to struggle with her ability to lead Nubrevna, and her perseverance in the face of so much opposition is one that is very relatable. The novel also follows Safiya and Iseult, as they continue their journeys to find one another. Owl’s character becomes more developed as well. I look forward to learning more about her in the last book of The Witchlands, as she is so intriguing.

❀ Amazing World-Building

The world of The Witchlands is unlike any other that I have ever read. All of the different witcheries that are present in the book are fascinating. In Bloodwitch, readers learn about many new types of magic, such as Ice Witches. In a fantasy series such as this, it can seem overwhelming to take in all of the different aspects of the world, its witcheries, and characters. Susan Dennard, however, gives her readers lots of details and reminders surrounding the events. I found that I was instantly back to where I left off in Windwitch without having to refresh my memory at all.

❀ An Incredible Series

Bloodwitch by Susan Dennard is everything that I hoped for in this third instalment. If you have yet to give The Witchlands series a try, I highly recommend it to anyone who loves the fantasy genre. The series is incredible with its fantastic battles and wonderful characters. It is a world that will lure you in from the first page.

I have only read the first one so far, and i absolutely loved it. I have been waiting until the final book comes out to continue, but if I am not crazy, it seems there are going to be a few more and I don’t know if I can wait that long

I am so glad you liked this and it’s on my TBR. I was gonna grab it. I might still after my hurt feelings are done.
