Katherine X just wanted to be friends
Katherine XVIII dumped him in an e-mail
K-19 broke his heart
When it comes to relationships, Colin Singleton's type happens to be girls named Katherine. And when it comes to girls named Katherine, Colin is always getting dumped. Nineteen times, to be exact.

On a road trip miles from home, this anagram-happy, washed-up child prodigy has ten thousand dollars in his pocket, a bloodthirsty feral hog on his trail, and an overweight, Judge Judy-loving best friend riding shotgun--but no Katherines. Colin is on a mission to prove The Theorem of Underlying Katherine Predictability, which he hopes will predict the future of any relationship, avenge Dumpees everywhere, and finally win him the girl. Love, friendship, and a dead Austro-Hungarian archduke add up to surprising and heart-changing conclusions in this ingeniously layered comic novel about reinventing oneself.

Audiobook Review: An Abundance of Katherines, JOhn Green

The audiobook of An Abundance of Katherines by John Green, narrated by Jeff Woodman, makes the characters feel so real, that you feel that you know them personally. This story is humorous and clever. It is also rich in the theme of friendship and making your mark in the world. The beautiful narration by Woodman makes the characters come alive and gives the listener an enjoyable listening adventure.

Ingenious Fictional Friendship

First of all, how can anyone resist falling in love with the friendship between a nerdy Jewish teen, Colin, and his lazy, overweight Arab friend, Hassan. The ingenuity of John Green to create a fictional friendship such as this is incredible. The audiobook really draws listeners into this friendship and makes the listener feel the humour, empathy and love shared between Colin and Hassan.

Clever Language

Colin, the protagonist, is desperate to mean something in the word and leave his mark. He intends to accomplish this by creating a theorem that can predict how long a relationship will last. In classic hyperarticulate John Green fashion, there is an amazing amount of detail and language used to describe the theorem. His use of cleverly chosen words is baffling!

Perfect Narrator

Jeff Woodman is the perfect narrator for An Abundance of Katherines. He has so many different character voices and really gives each character his/her own sound. A large factor in whether I find an audiobook enjoyable is whether I find the narrator to have a pleasing tone. Woodman has really turned John Green’s An Abundance of Katherines into an audible dramatic play.

If you adored any of John Green’s other books, you will not be disappointed with An Abundance of Katherines. It is classic John Green with calculated plot twists and witty remarks. In comparison to the popular, The Fault in Our Stars by John Green, An Abundance of Katherines is also clever and well written. You will only need to wipe away tears of laughter, though, as you listen to this audiobook.
