A Thousand Pieces of You by Claudia Gray was so unique. This was the first book I’ve ever read on parallel universes, although, there are probably more that I haven’t read, and it really made me think. What if I were to go to another dimension? What would it look like? Would it be really different from my life today? You can tell a book is well-written if it makes you think like that. It actually hurt my brain, reading this book, but in a good way.

Summary (from Goodreads):

Marguerite Caine's physicist parents are known for their groundbreaking achievements. Their most astonishing invention, called the Firebird, allows users to jump into multiple universes—and promises to revolutionize science forever. But then Marguerite's father is murdered, and the killer—her parent's handsome, enigmatic assistant Paul— escapes into another dimension before the law can touch him.

Marguerite refuses to let the man who destroyed her family go free. So she races after Paul through different universes, always leaping into another version of herself. But she also meets alternate versions of the people she knows—including Paul, whose life entangles with hers in increasingly familiar ways. Before long she begins to question Paul's guilt—as well as her own heart. And soon she discovers the truth behind her father's death is far more sinister than she expected.

Review: A Thousand Pieces of You by Claudia Gray

❀ A Page-Turner

This book was such a page-turner. I know, almost every review says that, but this book is honestly addictive. I first opened this book a few minutes before I was going to bed, and couldn’t find a good place to stop! You will find yourself DYING to know what happens next. I like that in a book.

❀ A cool Concept

Finally, reading this is almost like reading multiple stories in one. Each dimension is so different from the next, it doesn’t seem like you’re reading the same book. This is really cool, because it’s such a new idea. I like how the main character compares the new dimension to her original one. It shows that Claudia Gray cares enough about her readers to save them the trouble of going back a few chapters to make the comparison themselves.

❀ A fun book to read

A Thousand Pieces of You by Claudia Gray was such a fun fantasy read. It may put you in a reading slump, but that’s okay. Each page you turn will suck you in deeper and hold you captive in the beautiful book that Claudia Gray created. I recommend you pick this up, if you haven’t already. If you have, read it again to remind yourself of how incredible it was and mentally prepare yourself for Ten Thousand Skies Above You!

About Claudia Gray

Image of Claudia Gray

Claudia Gray is not my real name. I didn't choose a pseudonym because my real name is unpleasant (it isn't), because I'd always dreamed of calling myself this (I haven't) or even because I'm hiding from the remnants of that international diamond-smuggling cartel I smashed in 2003 (Interpol has taken care of them). In short, I took a pseudonym for no real reason whatsoever. Sometimes this is actually the best reason to do things.

I live in New Orleans. So far, in life, I've been a disc jockey, a lawyer, a journalist and an extremely bad waitress, just to name a few. I especially like to spend time traveling, hiking, reading and listening to music. More than anything else, I enjoy writing.
